10 Cloverfield Lane - 2016

Actually liked this film but by using, "Cloverfield" in the title I was expecting a different movie. I'm a John Goodman fan and will watch almost any movie he's in. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is excellent and she kept me interested with her excellent performance.

Holy crap I just watched movie like an hour ago and have been dying to talk with somebody about!

I'd give 10 Cloverfield Lane a 9, because even though the title is a bit of a marketing gimmick, the script is outstanding. Every little thing ties together! There is even room to interpret theories about the characters.

Speaking of which I have my own theory about John Goodman/Howard-
Spoilers- I think that Howard's wife and daughter are buried underground where we see the two pigs at the beginning of the movie. Maybe they tried to leave him for running what they thought was a fool's errand by building a bomb shelter. Howard then abducts that girl Brittany who dies. He then stalks Elizabeth Winstead beginning at the gas station where we see a truck pull in behind her. There is a line where he was 40 miles away from home leading to believe that it really was a kidnapping. Once Emmet is killed, Howard is happy to have his family again. I'm sure there is more! I'll have to rewatch it!

We watched a couple of movies this weekend.  One kind of newer, and a couple of older ones.

Guardians of the Galaxy - I finally got around to watching this one for the first time. I thought it was a pretty fun movie and a nice entry in the Marvel universe of films.  Star Lord is a really fun character, and everyone played their parts well.  I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5.

Twister - I saw this the first time when it hit theaters back in 1996 and loved it then.  I've seen it a couple of times since then, and always enjoy it.  It has a high rewatchability factor to it.  The effects are starting to look dated, but the story is a fun one.  4 out of 5.

Smokey and the Bandit - Still one of my favorite movies of all time, and infinitely quotable.  Great car chase scenes and just a fun movie from beginning to end.  5 out of 5.

I recently watched Patriot Games and A Few Good Men.

Harrison Ford and Tom Cruise characters in the 90s seem interchangeable in a lot of their movies. Tom Cruise in AFGM WAS Maverick from Top Gun. Harrison Ford in PG WAS Dr. Richard Kimble in The Fugitive. I enjoyed both, Patriot Games for the 90s ambiance and a Few Good Men for the acting.

3/5 Patriot Games
3.5/5 A Few Good Men

I always felt the same way about every character Kevin Costner plays.

I watched two yesterday on AMC and Syfy respectfully: Alien vs Predator and Jeepers Creepers 2.

I don't like AVP is as bad as many make it out to be. When it was first released I was so excited to see it, and there was a time in my childhood where I proudly called this film as my favorite movie of all time. Now that I am older, I can kind of understand why so many people hate it, but I still don't think it's as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

I've heard they are making a third Jeepers Creepers film. I've known about it since 2009, but apparently they are just now moving forward with the production of it. I always thought the Jeepers Creepers films had a lot of potential, but was in the wrong hands. Decent films, but not the great films it they could of been.

AVP 3.5/5
Jeepers Creepers 2 3/5

I think that the original Jeepers Creepers is one of the best horror films of the 2000's. It's very suspenseful, especially when there are in his corpse den and you gotta love the creature effects.

Brave (2012)

Wow...this has to be the first Pixar movie I didn't care for. Amazing visuals but that's to be expected. The story was just so linear and predictable. three quarters into the movie and I realized it wasn't going to get any better or redeem itself so I kind of just deflated as it resolved tidily.

Yeah, it's probably the worst of the Pixar films. Very forgettable. Planes is a close second.

Planes wasn't a Pixar film, Vapor. It just looks like one.

Notice how the word "Pixar" isn't above the Planes logo.
