Nice little Thanksgiving/Christmas movie. Sometimes drama and comedy go well together, and Grumpy Old Men is proof of that.
4 1/2 stars

Grumpy Old Men
Nice little Thanksgiving/Christmas movie. Sometimes drama and comedy go well together, and Grumpy Old Men is proof of that. 4 1/2 stars "Magic can happen to you."

Don't Breathe (2016)
Saw this was highly rated so gave it a watch, really good suspense movie. Probably the best since Disturbia for me. The security captain from Avatar plays the vet and the tension was high the entire time. 4/5 |

Bambi II
Wouldn't you know it? A Disney direct-to-DVD movie that's actually entertaining! Some of them are, believe it or not. This was an excellent follow-up to the iconic death scene from the first movie. 4 1/2 stars. "Magic can happen to you."

Black Sea
(8/10) A group of degenerates go looking for a sunken Nazi u-boat containing a lost horde of gold. This is your typical "Dad's movie" but it functions quite effectively as a horror movie as the claustrophobia and darkness of the waters bring out the worst in the crew. |

Hell or High Water (9/10)
Probably the best film I've seen all year. |

Lat night we watched The Homecoming: A Christmas Story. This was the Waltons Christmas movie that came before the series. It was a really fun Christmas movie to watch as the better half and I cuddled up on the couch with only the lights from the Christmas tree around us.
4 out of stars. Tonight is going to be the original black and white 1947 version of Miracle on 34th Street. As much as I love Christmas, this is one I have never watched any version of. www.retroramblings.com

Rogue One
An epic war movie set in the Star Wars universe. The events taking place are those just before New Hope. We get to see the famous Rogue One crew capture those plans to the Death Star that Luke takes down. How they tie in the destruction of the Death Star with circumstances in this film is a delight, and helps to really make the ending of New Hope even more satisfying. Seeing Darth Vader be his ominous/5 self, along with cameos by C3PO and R2D2, Princess Leia, and Grand Moff Tarkin (Governor Tarkin) really made this fit right in. The effects used to bring Peter Cushing's character back to life, and make Leia young again are simply stunning and indistinguishable from reality. 4/5 You love this signature.

The Secret Life of Pets
CGI or not, this movie is still a delight. Vibrant characters and funny moments. Really enjoyed this. I only wish they got someone better than Kevin Hart to voice the bunny. Still, can't wait for the sequel. 3 1/2 stars. "Magic can happen to you."

The greatest Christmas movie of them all.
Diehard (1988) It's so easy to see why this movie is regarded as one of the best action films of all time. It pretty much established the terrorist take over formula for movies. Great action peppered with humor that doesn't affect the levity of the situation too much. Alan Rickman is great and this movie is a classic! "Of all the terrorists I kill it had to be the one with feet smaller than my sisters" 4/5 |
