I stopped by Gamestop today to browse around while I had time to kill, and there was a sign on the door that said "Sorry, but we are sold out of Nintendo Switches".

It looks like Nintendo may have hit a home run with this.

from what i heard, people were really sold with that new zelda game that came out. and it's not surprising, just about every video game reviewing site gave it a 10.

As far as the Switch being sold out goes, part of that may also because of the limited supply Nintendo has sent out. Yes, they've done kind of the same thing with the NES Classic, where there's a limited stock they'd send out. And limited stock leaves scalpers taking advantage of it by price gouging the system. Hell, I'm already seeing Switch systems on ebay for $700.

I haven't heard much talk going on about the Switch systems overheating. I've yet to experience any issues myself, and I've been using the dock quite a bit, both for playing on the TV, and for charging the tablet and joycons. I was actually more worried about my joycon desyncing since that has been a common issue before. I haven't had that happen yet, and I even did calibration tests. It sounds like the desync issue may be limited to review units since I have not seen any reports of that happening with retail units. Thank god for that, because it would have been so disastrous if it did happen with retail units.

Strange.. on NintendoAge everybody is saying all the stores seem to have plenty in stock. Some people even saying scalpers seem to be in trouble with this.

I don't know. I am feeling the hype for BOTW but Skyward Sword really pissed me off.

I won't buy a Switch until there are enough games I want. It never happened with Wii U.

yeah, i know a couple of stores in my area besides gamestop stlll had some systems in stock.

nintendo announced that there'd be around 80 third party games coming to the system, but i'm getting kinda tired of seeing mostly indie games while we're not getting enough games from companies like ubisoft, capcom and sega.

that's another reason why i'm waiting to get a switch, aside from zelda the other first party games aren't doing it for me.

@Ben: An almost-unanimous perfect score you say? Mmm, that's a bit suspicious.

I would probably enjoy having one of these, but I don't know if I have it in the budget to buy one right now. It's been a long time since I've owned a brand new system, though, and Nintendo has always been my preferred gaming company.

i honestly don't know how soon it'd take me to pick one up if i were to. it took me three years to buy a wii u, but my sole purpose for buying it was its use for sharing drawings on nintendo's new online community site for its wii u and 3ds systems.

but if i manage to get one, i'll let you guys know.

This is the most nuanced review I've seen of the Switch-

Here's my favorite line from the article- "While Nintendo has no desire to compete with Sony or Microsoft it still is"

Good article, I agree. I actually like Nintendo's "gimmicks" -- I don't consider them such -- but they need to have larger libraries for their consoles if they want to interest me.
