Yeah, I haven't been involved with Nintendo in literally years so this is a no from me. Nintendo has just tried too hard to be innovative instead of focusing on just making cool games for us to play.

I did place my preorder for the Switch. I do plan on getting it. But if there's one thing that furthers my belief the console is going to fail, is that the preorders were not even sold out... and the quantity, from what I was told, is as scarce as the NES Classic. That's a bad sign for the system.

So if you think the console is going to be a failure...why bother getting it?

The women of New Vegas ask me a lot if there's a Mrs. New Vegas. Well, of course there is! You're her. And you're still just as perfect as the day we met.

I'm still interested in the system, and I want it to be successful. I don't want it to be a failure. I like the idea of playing it on the go, and could see myself taking it with me wherever I go. But from what I have seen in the presentation, and how Nintendo has been marketing it as a casual gaming system like the Wii U, I don't have a good feeling for how the console is going to do saleswise. Plus, if the Switch does fail, I think that will be the end for Nintendo, and I don't want that to happen.

we still have all those third party games to look forward to. besides skyrim's gonna be on it, and since the pc version is being picky with my pc, i'd at least have that to look forward to aside from the new zelda.

on the other hand we could always have a new luigi game, but with a new concept.

I haven't watched the presentation yet.

Mario Odyssey looks cool. But I haven't liked any 3D Mario game yet, so that's a big "maybe". Why does his boomerang hat have eyes? And I don't like the New York City part. Real world + cartoon Mario = no. And new cartoon Mario's voice still sucks. Bring back Captain Lou!

I expect to be disappointed with Zelda Breath of the Wild, same as with Skyward Sword, if for no other reason than this:

Nintendo, I do not play Zelda so I can mess with a giant stir fry pan. Leave that crap in Cooking Mama where it belongs.

Open world doesn't mean anything if I want to skip over large swaths of it. Ditch the sails and horses already and make the overworld compelling to explore and full of monsters that are fun to fight. And not so dorky. Seriously, the bokoblins and nokoblins and onomoatopoblins are lame, and oktoroks and stalfos shouldn't be puzzles in and of themselves. AAAAGH!

Unlike some people I am not against the control scheme. I do however need for there to be enough single-player campaign games to make a console worthwhile for the long term, and that is not evident yet.

So, I ended up picking up the Nintendo Switch console last night during the midnight release.

I know I've been pretty negative about the system in some of my previous posts here on this thread, and that's mainly due to my initial reaction on the Nintendo Switch presentation. But despite that, I've been pretty excited about the system. Yes, I still do have some of my concerns about it in regards to the console's power and its limited storage... not to mention I noticed framerate drops while I was playing Breath of the Wild. But in the end, I love the concept of being able to take that console experience on the go... and just the idea of being able to play a large open world game like Breath of the Wild on a portable system is pretty incredible in my opinion. The screen also looks very solid, and yes, it does fit in your pocket.

As far as motion control goes. Yes, I was against it initially, but one thing I thought about in terms of that is that it's not going to be a primary focus on the system as far as I
know. Plus, if there are games that uses better motion control technology, then I might be more on board with it. I may give ARMS a chance. Even if the motion control on that game is terrible, I heard you can turn off that feature, and play it like a good old traditional fighting game. I just hope that this doesn't lead to more games forcing motion controls on you like they've done with Star Fox Zero, and that the Switch does not turn into another shovelware system.

Even with all the negative things I said about the Switch in the past, I want
the console to be successful. Not just the fact that I like the concept, but also, if the system fails, I don't think Nintendo is going to have much of a future anymore. That's something I don't want to see, because if Nintendo leaves the console market, I really feel that gaming will never be the same again.

i've seen a few stories from people taking their systems back, so i'm kinda thankful that i made the choice to wait to buy mine. my main reason for waiting was for more third party games to surface (and no, indie games don't count).
