Trancers (1985)

So, I've been meaning to watch this Charles Band/Full Moon schlock for a long, long time. Finally saw it available on Amazon Prime and decided to give it a watch at long last. I had no idea Helen Hunt starred in this one (and it's 2nd sequel as well). I'm sure she looks back on this with pride ().

Yeah, it's about as 80's cheese as they come... and man, that's some good cheese. Complete with corny dialogue, goofy names (Jack Deth??? - which even THEY make fun of in the film), and lots and lots of awful set design and props to portray "the future". You just have to love this one. What's not to love?

Mr Magic
The Wizard of Oz.

A timeless classic. Beloved for generations. Might just be the perfect family film.

Every Which Way But Loose

It's kind of a trucker movie. Clint Eastwood and his pet orangutan battle bikers in this one. I wanted to see an action movie and it looks like I got a bargain.

Last movie I watched was some King Arthur movie from the 50s/60s. It was so bad I don't even remember the name. All the characters had these ridiculous footlong poofy feathers on top of their helmets and all their horses wore hoods for some reason. The swordfights were embarrassingly lame. I'm not expecting expert choreography, but this was something else. Let's put it this way: you get the impression that these aren't knights seasoned in battle, but little kids on their first day of swordfighting class who aren't allowed to swing their weapons at all.
I could overlook all of this if the rest of the movie wasn't so incomprehensibly boring. It's what feels like 20 minutes of talking broken up by the breathtaking swordfighting I mentioned earlier. I don't think I ever found out just what they were talking about.

All in all It was kind of like watching Monty Python and The Holy Grail with the funny parts cut out.

To be fair, I was recovering from surgery and whacked out of my mind on pain killers and who knows what else, so I should watch it in a "proper" state of mind before writing it off completely.

The women of New Vegas ask me a lot if there's a Mrs. New Vegas. Well, of course there is! You're her. And you're still just as perfect as the day we met.

Like this?

Probably for the medieval battle look without spending money on metal armor.

But...I don't think I would give that another chance.

Yeah... I'm with steak on this one. One chance sounds like one too many for that gem.

There is a sequel called Any which way you Can
I loved the first one too till I read about the abuse of the Orangutans here "According to "Visions of Caliban: On Chimpanzees and People" by famed primatologist Jane Goodall and Dale Peterson, the original "Clyde" was trained with a can of mace and a pipe wrapped in newspaper. He was viciously beaten the day before filming started to make him more docile. Near the end of filming the sequel "Any Which Way You Can," the orangutan was caught stealing doughnuts on the set, brought back to the training facility and beaten for 20 minutes with a 3 1/2 -foot ax handle. He died soon after of a cerebral hemorrhage."

No one on the set knew though..
