Interstellar (2014)

Holy smokes. This was an excellent movie. Very reminiscent of 2001 A Space Odyssey but about 1000 times more coherent.  Very interesting concepts, and I was definitely lost in places but it was very original. What Gravity was in action, Interstellar is in story.

Hmmm. Okay, my interest is piqued. I may give this a go at your recommendation.

So I took vkimo's review to heart and watched Interstellar last night.

It was indeed a very good story and well told by Nolan. I too found myself scratching my head once in a great while, but in the end it all felt within reason... mostly.

I have to take away a half a point from my review though, because Matt Damon was in this, and I absolutely loathe Matt Damon and his moron buddy Ben Affleck. Having Matthew McConaughey in it redeems it a bit, but even he can't overcome my pure disgust for Damon. To be perfectly honest, if I had known Damon was in this film, even in the very small part that he has, I likely would not have paid to see it at all... ever.

Valley Girl (1983)

8/10 Very good, cool, fun movie. I just like stuff from the 1980's a lot, movies, music, tv, the culture in general. It's all just so cool to me and this was a great movie. And i don't like stuff from the 1980's in a sarcastic ironic kind of way that a lot of people do. I just enjoy it a lot and i was born in 1991 so i don't have nostalgia or something for stuff from the past (not just the 80's but the 50's,60's,70's and 90's too). And i don't like how people always use nostalgia as the only reason that you would like something from the past more than something from the present and act like your opinion is invalid for it. I just get a different good feeling from that stuff than i do from most newer stuff. I just like it and think it's cool. Also the movie had a great soundtrack.

So I guess now wouldn't be a good time to suggest Stuck on You...

I thought Anne Hathaway was the more irritating of the cast members. I also think it was a stretch that Michael Caine's character was still alive when the team was 28 years out. I really enjoyed Tars humor. The part where he said, "I'm not joking" and the cue light went on, I was in stitches!

I didn't like Stuck on You that much, but Vapor might like it more than I did.

I was thinking that too, with regard to Caine's character. He was not much different all those years later. And yeah, I enjoyed TARS too. He was endearing.

I watched The Dead Zone yesterday.

Wouldn't it be great to be a psychic? You can see what's going to happen before it happens. And you prevent something bad from happening before it happens, which is what Christopher Walken was trying to do. Thrilling and puzzling. I liked it.

3 1/2 stars.

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb

These movies are decent family entertainment, but I've never been a huge fan of them. This outing was okay, and a bit sad with Robin Williams passing.

I enjoyed the parts with Ben Stiller and the Egyptian character (whose name escapes me), but the interaction between Stiller and his prehistoric counterpart just came off as annoying to me.
