I suppose the original 1966 animated Grinch can officially be considered at cult classic status now given the fact that nobody talks about that one anymore. Tis a shame too. That special had more going for it than the other two iterations ever will:

Solid animation from Chuck Jones (Actually fun fact: One of Chuck's animators on the special was Phil Roman whom in the 80's and 90's would make a name for himself with the Garfield cartoons, Bobby's World, animation subcontracting for The Simpsons (as of Season 4 taking over from Klasky Csupo whom had just went on to do Rugrats for Nickelodeon the previous year) and in the 2000's he did that idiotic Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer special as well as that animated Turok film (based on the original comic book of the same name) that wasn't terrible for what it was) as well as the voice talents of The Frankenstein Monster himself Boris Karloff, June "Everybody's Generation From The Boomers to The Most Recent one (until her death)" Foray and vocals on The Grinch song by Tony the Tiger Original himself Thurl Ravenscroft. Not to mention they managed to keep why he was the way he was a mystery. Like who the f*** decided he needs an origin story? Even I wasn't that curious! That said, y'all can keep your so called "definitive" live action version. To me, Grinch Animated 66 will always be the only iteration in my eyes Good thing I have a DVD copy of it because it's only a matter of time before Grinch Original is forgotten and Dr Seuss pops up from his grave to have a cow

Here is my favourite holiday special based on The UK's favourite wordless kid's book that gained a bit a cult following in the US. I remember watching this special on PBS every December for a few years when I was a kid

there was a playstation game based on the 2000 movie and it was pretty terrible, the only positive about it was space ghost's voice actor doing narration in rhyme, however the demo disc i had of it was eerily silent. it did have SOME music but very scarce voice lines (obviously to save space for the rest of the games on the disc, but it was still creepy to me).

Here's another awesome one. So anybody here familiar with a long since defunct animation studio called Rankin/Bass? They were holiday special Rockstars for years with their Rudolph and Frosty franchises. They also did a Saturday Morning cartoon for the Michael Jacksons Five (years before Michael was an adult and invented Thriller) and even helped the 4kids heathens eons before they were 4kids heathens get Thundercats off the ground. Anyway, this is the last stop motion special Rankin/Bass ever made. Unlike most of their specials which existed in the realm of their Rudolph and Frosty thing they were milking for a while, this special was based on a book of the same name by Mr Oz Universe himself L Frank Baum

Another Christmas Special I forgot about that I watch every year since Hulu was still showing it in 2015, Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas. It's just as ridiculous as it sounds. Not to mention I wish Dr Claw could be Santa. He would make Christmas awesome

Also in this special, you can actually see the top of Gadget's head for the first time  you slow the video down and pause it at the right moment. Turns out he's bald

Bow down

Bow bow

Before the power of Santa

Or be crushed

Be crushed

By his jolly boots of doom

(I applaud whoever here gets the reference)
