I think you're exactly right. Unfortunately a lot of features broke, and some content went away, such as the user forums. Putting pictures on your profile is a much-used feature of Facebook, it's practically (or was originally) the only thing to do on Instagram and it's most of Tumblr. So when that got taken AWAY from RJ, it's like...duh. I don't know that it was done on purpose, and I for one never really used it, but it drew a lot of complaints. Just an example. I think the reception might have been less poor if the overhaul was just a re-skin and everything else about how the site works stayed the same. But I don't know if that would have been possible, either.

I also agree with Derk about the newer people. Like that guy from U.K. who just kept posting about diapers and about being a baby.

Really? You have something against babies that like to use the internet? Huh!?

Man, I wish I could link you some of his stuff, but most of it was in the user forums and I can't remember his name. He made a forum called Creative Writing and asked for people to write about this baby character he had, and how he looked at his mother and getting his diaper changed, and it seemed really sexual. He had very specific, in-depth descriptions of the mother's clothes and jewelry and hair.

So I wrote a story that was what he wanted, but I made it really strange and explicit, and included a whole subplot about how one of his stuffed animals was threatening to kill him. He didn't catch on at all and just talked about how great it was, and then acted like he was commissioning the next story. I think I asked him for money and he balked, so I told him I thought he was messed up and he should stop posting about "nappies". Then he went away.

I don't remember too much about him except that he had an odd personality.

Apparently, RJ is down again, and the notice says it's for maintenance. What kind of maintenance, I don't know, but that's what's going on right now.

Strange. It works for me. I just clicked on a thread I had never read before, too, and replied to it so it can't be a cached copy.

It must have been some relatively quick work.

Other than the Memory Lane forum, no other RJ forum has gotten a single post in days! Some hasn't seen one in at least a month.

The site is down in more ways than one.
