I hate to squash hopes and dreams, but yeah, I've received that error before and there wasn't an update.
I think it's safe to say the mythical update is never coming.

If there really was an update coming, Vertex would've said something. Maybe.

Hey, it's a nice view from there!
Well, I'll be darned! It's back on! "If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."

RetroJunk did get the much anticipated update...about 3 years ago. The result being the current layout. There's nothing more to expect.

Much anticipated, and ultimately rejected. I'm sure it was a lot of work. The reaction, justified as it was IMO, must have been incredibly disheartening for Vertex. It's really too bad, and a shame. I wish it had not been done. I wonder how he feels about it.

But there's no character in web 2.0 design. I prefer the "Geocities" cheapness and gaudiness. But that's just me. You love this signature.

@Derk:
I doubt it. He's lost the love for the site. "If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."
