Wow, your embed fired right up for me. It looks like all my connectivity issues went away when I upgraded to Windows 10 last week. My new computer had Windows 8.1 and I couldn't even post here! Now everything I couldn't do before is real easy.

That's great news. Makes life here a whole lot easier for you. Great to see you again Edd.

Dude, if you cudda seen me a month ago, lol!

I felt like an inmate at a nursing home. I would move my cursor into reply then watch in amazement as my computer would jump from one open window to another! I dumped IE an loaded Chrome, then MS jumped in and "tricked me" into upgrading. Well whaddaya know - it worked!

You guys know that just like over at RJ I keep repeating myself here. Only because when I was growing up the Holiday Season was filled with all kinds of movies and TV shows that may, or may not, have anything to do with Thanksgiving or Christmas.

An example is this early attempt to combine animation with live action you may remember from my RJ post, called "The Fabulous World of Jules Verne" in English, the Czech name is "Invention for Destruction". Too bad the boring script didn't live up to the amazing visuals:

This is my #1. The Twilight Zone and The Honeymooners are both very important to me, so this is a real treat. It's a wonder to watch hilarious Art Carney in a serious role. He was a master and his craft is so wonderfully on display in this almost unbearably heartwarming episode. There are many stories about a "real Santa Claus", but if you ask me, this one beats them all.

As for others, I made a DVD a while ago. Besides Night of the Meek, it included Rudolph, Frosty, Charlie Brown, Grinch, and the original South Park short (second version). So there's my list of go-to Christmas specials.

OMG!!!  Thank you SnS - sure feels great to hang with the gang again.

While not considered a holiday special, Harry Nilsson's "The Point" sure helped me muddle through my troubles lately, lol! Still love the story of Oblio and Arrow even after all of these years.

That invention for destruction promo was wild. Very cool stuff for the late 50's... and overseas.

I had a feeling you would like that. But just imagine, when I was a kid back in the '60's local TV stations would fill every available time slot with some of the most amazing movies I've ever seen - stuff I will not talk about because none have ever shown up on YouTube yet.

Christmas time when I was growing up was packed with all kinds of unusual movies that made the holidays so much fun. Do you guys remember my post about a movie that told the story of a legendary giant bell made of solid gold? The bell was named the, "Mother of Voices", and it was a story handed down from the middle ages.
But . . . was it real or just a myth?

It sure is great to have you back Edd. Your childhood memories have been sorely missed around here. We need that 60's and 70's kid perspective badly.

Were you a fan of some of the variety shows from those decades? Do you recall any favorite Christmas specials from those variety shows?

You betcha, television Christmas specials were everywhere. The years before the pc and the internet were like a golden age of specials and holiday themed episodes, but there were some real standouts I remember. I'm going to have a long weekend to get some Christmas shopping done, so let me see what I can find.
So Stay Tuned and enjoy an old favorite that gets to me every time:

Man, I LOVE that Twlight Zone episode, but I generally save TZ for the big TZ marathon on NYE.  That's a huge tradition for me.  I watch as much of it as I can while eating cheese and crackers and Italian foods.

For Christmas, I have tons of tv show specials and movies I watch, including many already mentioned. It's a Wonderful Life is a must, as is National Lampoon, Charlie Brown, Garfield, etc etc.

It's been years since I watched the Yogi Bear special, but I recently found a copy I taped off of TV in the 80s, so I think I may try to convert it to DVD unless it's widely available elsewhere.

I missed the Christmas Article contest, but I had planned on writing about my Christmas Eve tradition which is the feast of the seven fishes. :-)  I may write that one anyway.
