Mr Magic
The Hunt For Red October

Fascinating Tom Clancy-based movie, but what's with the PG rating? It has too many adult themes to be called a PG movie.

Also, I can't tell if this was deliberate or not but the setup of the movie with Pee Wee's adoration of Joe Manganello is borderline "gay fantasy." There is even a scene with them jousting unicorn horns.

I still haven't seen the movie. But to your point above, I always thought a great deal about Pee Wee's character seemed to point to him as gay, or at least did so without it actually being the case. So having him fascinated with this other character is no surprise. Doesn't make it any less unsettling, but still... it always just seemed like part of his character to me.

Good survival thriller about a soccer team that gets stranded on an island after their plane crashes.

The Africa Queen (1950 something)

Fun jungle flick from the 50s. Hard to believe of all his movies, this was the one that got Bogart an Oscar. It was a fun romp though.

I too am a big fan of The African Queen.  Just watched it again about a month ago.

Muppets Most Wanted.

Not bad, but I definitely didn't enjoy it as much as its predecessor.

Not a disappointment, but I liked the other film better.
National Lampoon's Vacation.
One of the best comedies I've seen.

White House Down

The Olympus Has Fallen substitute. Something you can still watch with the family. That is, if the wife doesn't mind senseless violence. This movie sums up real life pretty well. We're already fighting international terrorism, but we're fighting American terrorism too.

4 1/2 stars.

The Revenant (2015)

Was waiting to see this for awhile. Beautiful, stunning imagery. Hard to believe there's places in the US that look like the landscapes seen in this film. Although I just looked at the filming locations and Argentina and Canada were more involved. The story was ok. Loosely based off an already dubious true story and I was growing weary of Leonardo DiCaprio's constant agony. Surprised he got an actor with little dialog involved, solid film overall though.

10 Cloverfield Lane (2015)

I have to agree with much of what has been said regarding this film. It should have ended about 15 minutes sooner. The ending could have been a sufficient intro for a totally separate film (a sequel perhaps), but here as the ending of this film, it feels REALLY out of place. Still a fun ride.
