While our Fourth was still fairly enjoyable, there was a wrench thrown into it.
My wife and her father are estranged, and he took it upon himself to travel down here to try and patch things up. Thankfully my mother-in-law let us know he was on his way down, and we hung out with some friends most of the day. He ended up leaving a note on the door and heading back.
It's a long story, but my wife really wants nothing to do with him. So this caused us some tension today that we really could have done without. It still managed to be a good day overall.
I got to eat that famous Rutland Roast Beef, so it's all good.

You got to be with friends and have a special treat meal. It wasn't the original plan but I don't hear a down side there. Awesome. + Good that your wife's mom is on her side.
Benjanime wrote :At 9 o'clock on Saturday night? That's dedication! My 4th was as I described earlier. But we managed to do it all. The band played early. So it was outdoor concert (with free beer and pizza!), one barbecue, another barbecue/art gallery opening, and rooftop watching with just a couple of friends. Surrounded, fireworks going off in all directions. |

I worked on the fourth while my family went camping. *sigh* Ce'st la vie..
The women of New Vegas ask me a lot if there's a Mrs. New Vegas. Well, of course there is! You're her. And you're still just as perfect as the day we met.

Vaporman87 wrote :Where did he talk about it? I didn't see the post. So, street festivals are ridiculous here. There's one almost every weekend in the summer, sometimes multiple. It's usually put on by a local business, a group of businesses, or a ward's chamber of commerce. This one was done by a coffee brewer/cafe. They put it on for their anniversary. Proceeds were for charity. There was a stage and eight bands. |

shakin steak wrote :It was in the Random Pictures Thread. I think he said something about it being on a pier? shakin steak wrote :In Pomeroy (a neighboring village and the county seat), there is usually some kind of festival happening on the weekends during the summer. Typically it's just bands (mostly country or blues), food, and some inflatables for the kids. The biggest ones are the Gold Wings & Ribs Fest and the Big Bend Blues Bash. All of these take place in the parking lot right on the river. You could jump (or walk - at the boat levy) right into the river from the lot. So some people bring their boats and float in place to watch or listen. You love this signature.

Naturally, with Fourth of July over, Walmart has immediately shoved all the Back To School stuff in our faces. That was what I noticed today.
