Week of 3/6/2014:
Wii U Virtual Console:
NES Open Tournament Golf (NES)
$4.99
3DS Virtual Console:
Adventure Island II (NES)
$4.99
This marks the first time Adventure Island II was released on the Virtual Console service in North America... well, at least the NES version. It actually did get released on the Wii Virtual Console in Japan and Europe, but never in North America. Why that was I have to idea. We did get the Game Boy version of the title on the 3DS Virtual Console back in 2011 but not the NES version.

Week of 3/13/2014:
Wii U Virtual Console: Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels (Famicom) $4.99 3DS Virtual Console: Galaga (NES) $4.99 Those who haven't tried out Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels, that is a game I highly recommend. It's basically the original Super Mario Bros designed for expert players. It is included on Super Mario All-Stars for SNES and Super Mario Bros Deluxe for the GBC, but I recommend the original Famicom version more than anything. Plus the Famicom version has a different ending that was not used in the SNES and GBC versions. I won't spoil anything about it, you'll just have to play it and see. On a side note, when Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels was originally released on the Wii Virtual Console, it was for 600 Wii Points due to the game being an import. The Wii U Virtual Console version is at it's regular $4.99 price tag for NES games. Plus, since I already got the game on the Wii Virtual Console, then all I have to pay is that one dollar discount to get it on the Wii U VC. |

It doesn't get any better than Galaga.

Does the SMB Lost Levels contain any of the secret "minus world" levels?
You love this signature.

Not really secret, but if you play the game the whole way through without taking any Warp Zones, you'll get to play World 9. A special fantasy world where all the overworld enemies are underwater. They only give you one life for this, and if you die once, then they send you back to the title screen.

Week of 3/20/2014:
Wii U Virtual Console: Volleyball (NES) $4.99 Oh great, just what we need, ANOTHER crappy NES sports title. Ice Hockey was at least a decent sports title with only Konami's Blade's of Steel succeeding that. But Volleyball? Yeah... just like Tennis, Golf, and Baseball, avoid this game at all costs. |
|
I'll stick with 10-Yard Fight.

Hey, watch what you say about NES Baseball!

three months without super mario bros. 3. i'm not getting impatient or anything, i'm just saying this because it was announced back in december from nintendo direct that it was "coming soon". why can't the european and U.S. virtual console just have the same games released on the same day?

Week of 3/27/2014:
Wii U Virtual Console: Dr. Mario (NES) $4.99 3DS Virtual Console: Clu Clu Land (NES) $4.99 This week marks Dr. Mario's official Virtual Console debut. Yay! Though, to be honest, unless you have nostalgic memories over the original, then I would suggest getting Dr. Mario Online RX, Dr. Mario Express or Dr. Luigi. There's also a Ubisoft sale going on, and for that I say BOOO!!! I don't know about you guys, but I spitefully hate Ubisoft. I lost a lot of respect for them after screwing Wii U owners made Rayman Legends multiplat despite being announced as a Wii U exclusive and for delaying the Wii U version of Watch_Dogs. For that Ubisoft... you're not getting any money from me. And in other news... next week is when Game Boy Advance titles arrives on the Wii U Virtual Console. Yup, for the entire month of April, Nintendo will be releasing their first lineup of GBA titles, and I'm really looking forward to it. Not only that, but on April 17th, an NES game that's been announced for a long time is also being released. I'm sure some of you guys who've been following this news knows what I'm talking about. With all this going on, I'd have to say... BRING ON THE GBA TITLES!!! |
