Week of 12/19/2013:
Wii U Virtual Console:
Castlevania (NES)
$4.99
3DS Virtual Console:
Crash 'N The Boys: Street Challenge (NES)
$4.99
Also released this week as part of Sega's 3D classics series: 3D Streets of Rage and 3D Shinobi III. On a side note, Nintendo released a new game on the Wii U eShop called NES Remix. It looks really awesome, but a little overpriced ($14? Really?).

layering effects for 3D, and options for adding depth to the 3D as far as i know. i have kirby's adventure 3D and that's pretty much all that's added as an option, other than some fixed graphics

Well, here's a rather late update on this week's Virtual Console releases. For those who do not know, Nintendo has been going through a lot of server problems throughout the wake of Christmas. This is due to Pokemon Bank causing a lot of server issues, and because more people got a Wii U and 3DS that it made their online network crash. There was a list of eShop games that's been posted online, but I wanted to wait until the eShop was fully back up before I did so. Now that I was able to log on this morning with no problem, then it looks like Nintendo's server problems are now over. I think now would be the right time for post this week's Virtual Console releases.
Week of 12/26/2013: Wii U Virtual Console: Super Punch Out (SNES) $7.99 3DS Virtual Console: Mario Tennis (GBC) $5.99 Super Punch-Out was a game that I reviewed quite a while ago back when I was still frequently doing video game reviews on Youtube. Needless to say, it got the most hate. Looking back at it, I did seem a bit harsh on it, and I could have done better on naming some good aspects of it to balance it out with the bad. Although, I still stand by what I said before about it being not that good of a sequel to the Mike Tyson's Punch-Out on the NES. It just never appealed to me that much. By the way, it's the last week of 2013, and STILL no Super Mario Bros 3. They promised to have that out by the end of 2013, and it still hasn't been released. Way to break another promise, Nintendo. |

My kids got 3DS handhelds this year. They are loving them. I will admit, I find them to be pretty neat as well. Especially with the incorporation of the StreetPass/SpotPass Mii collection aspect. Very cool. Any recommendations on what is available for the 3DS?

Animal Crossing New Leaf is also a fun one. Though, that's if you're into life-simulation games.

Week of 1/2/2014:
Wii U Virtual Console: Mega Man X2 (SNES) $7.99 Overall, a pretty lull week for this week's eShop releases in general as we only got this, and a demo for Braverly Default. I'm guessing Nintendo's still trying to recover from their network meltdown from last week. Because of that, we won't be seeing Super Mario Bros 3 and Pokemon Bank anytime soon. Really suck, especially the ladder as I really wanted to transfer some of my older Pokemon to X and Y. |
