We're actually getting four or five straight days of sun this week. It's been a long time since we had that. I actually cleaned my truck yesterday for the first time this summer.

Back to rain today. But, at least we did get several days in a row of decent weather finally. That was nice for a change. Looking forward to Fair Week in the middle of August. Hopefully the weather then is sunny and mild.

Looks like we are in the midst of the Dog Days of Summer. Whatever that is.

July has been a total washout here. First half was quite dry, the second half not so much. A lot of flooding in the area.

When we were coming home from our trip, I saw some kids walking out of an elementary school building. I was like "School's back already?!" And then I was informed that the kids in the town we were in only get a 2-week summer break from school! I was shocked to hear that! Maybe they're just trying to keep them from vandalizing and causing other trouble.

Maybe they go to some kind of year round school.

I guess. It's just that the idea of a 2-week summer break sounds surreal.

Yeah, that's a kid's worst nightmare.

The same thing might happen to the kids in my town. No kid should be deprived of the joy of summertime. They're only young once. They gotta enjoy it as much as they can.

summer school itself would make any kid cringe.
