Mr Magic
It's been raining quite a lot lately.

We'll see, Eric.

Yeah. It's been frequent here to. Lots of flash flooding, and not able to get yard work done. It sucks.

Hopefully it doesn't rain for the 4th of July festival.

is it odd that here in VA there's half hour long rainfall with it all clearing up just moments later?

Ah you're in VA as well? Here in Gainesville I noticed a bunch of Flash Flood Warnings. Luckily they're all gone now.

Okay, this rain HAS to go. I feel like I'm living in Seattle or London. This has been NO SUMMER AT ALL! Yet.

The rain's not here at the moment.

I like it, but not every, single day.

Well I'm gonna change the subject from rain.

Last Sunday, I took my daughters out for a day.  When I was a kid, we used to camp every weekend at a lake thats an hour from where I live now.  At that lake, the campground has a decent playground.  But tucked away just above the campground, in what looks to be like dense trees, there is another playground with multiple slides, swing sets, all kinds of climbing and balance setups, as well as picnic tables.

I hadn't been to this playground in 17 years, when I took my wife there on a date one night, so I wasn't sure if it was even still there.  Thank goodness, it was still there, with most of the original equipment still in place.  There was a few pieces missing, but they were replaced with modern versions.  My daughters had an absolute blast and so did I.  I almost felt like a kid again again watching them enjoy it and me taking part in a LOT of the fun as well.

We had packed a lunch and spent several hours there, and these kids of mine have been asking when we can go back.  It's an easy day trip that is a big deal to them.

What, if anything, is everyone else doing this summer that takes you back to your childhood?

That is AWESOME mick. It sounds like you and the family had an amazing and nostalgic time.

I've mentioned it many times before here, but the most nostalgic thing about the summer for me is Fair Week. It remains virtually unchanged from my youth, and every year being there makes me feel like I have stepped back in time. It was a bit of a "reunion" before school started up for us. We would see our friends and know that just another week or two away was the next school year, and all that that would entail. Like a "last hurrah".

The atmosphere is unbeatable for tickling my nostalgia bone.

I'm worried about setting foot in the water when I go to the beach this year. I hear the sharks are coming close to the shore.
