So you're going to merge the two sites? Will their old threads be in the index here? Will the members be automatically registered on RD? Will that domain redirect here? All their extra content migrated? (like the game box covers and readalongs) So many questions. This is pretty exciting -end quote There won't be any merging. The best thing you can do with something that isn't broken is NOT MESS WITH IT. 80sXChange must continue on as it's own entity... the way Sal intended it. We will, however, share links in various places so that we can build a freeway between the two sites. I will probably update the forum there with Sal's help. Members there will NOT be automatically registered here. However, messages can be sent to members there letting them know of any info and events going on here. Sal Collaziano wrote :
As "the boss" mentioned - there are a ton of html pages on that site - and a massive amount of pages in the forum community. I'm not entirely sure what his plan is - but if it's to bring traffic HERE through my site - I have little doubt that'll work. Ultimately, I think it would be great to import the data into one forum or another - but that might not be an easy task. I really don't know...
But, I'm pretty confident we can expect to see an influx of traffic coming this way. I do miss talking about the 80s so I'll be watching and participating when I can... -end quote Thanks for dropping in Sal! As I said above, I think both sites can benefit from this. We have solid members here who can feel free to contribute to 80sXChange, and RD can offer extra benefit to those who stop by 80sXChange, giving them even more reason to keep coming back to both places. It's a win-win I think. You've made something pretty special over there Sal.

I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to quote here... So... Thank you all for the warm welcome!
Thank you for the kind words. The 80sXchange has been around for a long time so I think it WOULD be beneficial to keep the site as a separate entity. The software is very good and is currently using the latest version of vBulletin 4. You probably WON'T want to upgrade to vBulletin 5 any time soon. Especially since I figured out (TODAY) how to make it mobile compliant for Google's most recent search engine changes. Both sites should be a great compliment to one another.
The domain name has already been transferred and I'm transferring the static files and database right at this moment. In fact, that process is just about completed...

Good stuff, Vapor. For a second there, I thought that you were going to buy that OTHER 80's nostalgia site that I like a lot... and I would have had to kill ya

Interesting. That's a sure lot of static html pages. Must've been a burden to maintain. And it's got phpBB, cool. Feels like I'm in the 90s again. -end quote Yes it does feel very 90's

Well, I'm going to give this a try. But when I click the "quote" link nothing gets pushed into this text area... I have a feeling it's not working with my Mac running Chrome... (the "Preview" button doesn't do anything either)

I know we've had a bug for a while that involved a signature with code in it preventing the use of the "Quote" function, but not with just text in it. This could be a compatibility issue with Mac/Chrome. Not sure though.

It's not working for me either, Vapor. It just kind of stopped one day. It doesn't matter, though, seeing how I can still use the "@" method

It doesn't work for me... in neither of my computers. It's not an issue, but it's really curious.
