3295ArticleVaporman87This was a very emotional read, and really well done. I can think back to my time in school, and watching some of my fellow classmates suffer like you. I myself was the target of the occasional bully, though not nearly to this extent. I somehow managed to find a place in school that kept me out of the crosshairs for the most part, and even allowed me to have some civil relationships with those who might otherwise have bullied me. I can't imagine the bullying I did receive being multiplied to such a degree that I feared going to school every day, and felt like there was no help for me. Now that I am a father of school age children myself, I see the act of bullying from a totally different perspective. I would be furious to find out such things were happening to my child, and the school would come to fear my phone calls if such things ever happened routinely. I am not one of those people who believe our children today are becoming spoiled and weak because we are more serious about bullying in our schools these days. Bullying is something that no child should have to endure. I do believe that kids today are indeed more apt to BE spoiled and weak, but not because of our approach to bullying in schools today. Thank you for sharing this difficult set of memories with us Rick. I think I speak for everyone when I say that I am glad you overcame all that adversity.Being BulliedFeb 01, 2016View
3294ArticleOldSchool80s@Vapor Glad you enjoyed it! All predictions of future fashion were so far off whether you look at BTTF or any other futuristic film like Demolition Man. Rick definitely was right about the computers taking over music-making not to mention our day-to-day lives.Rick Springfield’s futuristic ‘Human Touch’ video takes place in 2016Jan 24, 2016View

3292ArticleVaporman87I knew that I enjoyed the song, but don't recall much about the video, despite the fact that I was a huge music video watcher when this video first came out (on both MTV and Friday Night Videos). I love that you have brought this to our attention. It gives us another glimpse at what we thought life might be like in "the future" back in the 80's (even predating BTTF's version of our time by about 6 years). What was it about "the future" that made us instinctively envision a lack of color (silver everything)? Rick Springfield’s futuristic ‘Human Touch’ video takes place in 2016Jan 24, 2016View
3291ArticleOldSchool80sThe year we received our Atari 2600 is probably my best Christmas gift memory of my entire childhood. It is one of my favorite stories to re-tell and will always hold a special place for me. My Favorite Christmas Gifts As A Kid in the 80s & 90sJan 22, 2016View
3290ArticleMissM@HojuKoolander I have a very eclectic taste in collecting. It's both a blessing and a curse. lol The Playskool People are so perfect for capturing the look of the times! That is such a great feel about it. I love that. R Rated toy lines are such a fascination, because I don't know that it would ever happen again like that. There was something really special about that time for toys. Now the R Rated stuff is just marketed for collectors. I'm really glad I was young during that toy collecting time. My dad was only mildly interested in collecting. He wanted to find the stuff that I was looking for, and he'd play with me for a little bit, but then he'd lose interest. lol It's an interesting thing. For example when Nintendo came out, he got one for us all to play. My mom and him actually played Mario, Duck Hunt, and Jaws for awhile, but once they got bored with it they never played a video game again. It's just interesting. I can't think of ever giving up playing a video game in some capacity. lol Anyways, hope all is going well!Miss M's Top 10 Retro Toys of 2015!Jan 22, 2016View
3289ArticleDirtyD79Me and my bro had bunkbeds too. Our mom got them because they reminded her of the Berenstein Bears or something like that. We also had a folding ladder which we just about never used. One of the things I'd do with the bunk bed is pretend I'm working on a car that's up on the lift at a shop. I probably drove my parents nuts by tapping on it with a little wooden hammer. When me and my bro outgrew them we ended up giving them to a couple of our younger cousins. Bunk BedsJan 22, 2016View
3288ArticleHoju KoolanderWhat a varied list, this was awesome. Those Playskool People are such time capsule figures, seeing as they were created to represent the "contemporary" look of everyday people from that era. I too have long been amazed by R-Rated toy lines like Terminator 2, Demolition Man, Predator and Rambo. The basic attitude of the day seemed to be, "If it looks cool, mold it in plastic for the kids". That was a great story about your Miss Elizabeth figure. My Dad was also involved in a lot of my collecting during childhood, though it was most definitely not his thing. Miss M's Top 10 Retro Toys of 2015!Jan 20, 2016View
3287ArticleMissM@pikachulover- Tell me about it! Lady Lovelylocks are so hard to find in decent condition. I don't know if you can tell in the picture, but her legs have splotchy coloring on them. Other than that she is in great condition. @Vaporman87- Wasn't it so cool back in the day how Playmates would make so many different toy lines and they all fit together? You are right, Toxie would have fit in perfectly with a TMNT line. I miss those toy lines. And thank you, I was really excited to find these items throughout the past year. Hope you two have both been doing well!Miss M's Top 10 Retro Toys of 2015!Jan 20, 2016View
3286ArticlepikachuloverI never had a bunk bed as a kid. Although I did want one for a while until my mom said it was not very practical for me to have one. That and my fear of earthquakes combined led to me not having a bunk bed. My friend in high school lofted his bed. He was strange he moved around the furniture in his room at least once a month and his room was not that large. He told me to loft my bed too. The problem with his bed was that was not constructed it very well. He just added beams to a regular bed. It looked like it was going to topple over if you sneezed by the thing. If I remember correctly he wanted his computer under his lofted bed. I had a few relatives with bunk beds. But they usually slept on the bottom and put their toys on the top bunk.Bunk BedsJan 19, 2016View
