Fast Food Halloween: Burger King Halloween Toys

Greetings once again ghosts and ghouls it's that time of year again as the trees howl and moan, the leaves fall and rustle, and the scares are around every corner. A couple years ago I covered the McDonald's Halloween toys, now it's time to cover the other big fast food company around that likes to theme their toys to the season, Burger King.

Universal Studios Monsters (1997)

Can't go wrong with the classics and Burger King knew it in 1997. This toy run consisted of Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, The Wolfman, and The Creature From the Black Lagoon. These toys had various gimmicks ranging from Glowing in the dark, lighting up, and squirting water. These toys were fun at the time and were the perfect fit that year as the classic monsters were making a comeback at the time.

Silly Slammers (1999)

Odd toys in the nineties is like peanut butter to jelly. They go hand in hand and this is another example of it. Silly Slammers are toys that you slam down and they make a sound. Burger King made Halloween editions were no exception. These ones made sounds though what kind of sound depended on the slammer. In this case it was an eyeball, a bat, a ghost, a witch, and a pumpkin. While these were just a fad in general, as Halloween toys, they worked and did their jobs.

The Simpsons (2001)

For what became the start of the Simpsons Halloween toy line at Burger King, the 2001 Halloween season brought the Spooky Light-Ups line. The idea for all the toys is simple, you press the figure down on the platform, the gimmick on the platform lights up. What makes these stand out from others is the amount you have to collect. Most fast food toys have a range of about five to eight at most. This and other Simpsons toys, were usually up to fifteen. While simple, the number to collect gave them a good appeal especially if you are a Simpsons fan.

While fast food isn't the best for you, it is hard to ignore the impact that it has when it comes to themed toys for the season of Halloween. Though simple in nature it's more of a matter of the timing and effort to keep to the spirit and theme of Halloween that makes fast food toys around this time of year as memorable as they are. So until next time, Season's Hauntings and remember to Live Life and Live Nostalgic.

I used to have a toy for a line of Hamtaro Halloween toys from Burger King. It was for the character, Boss, who was dressed up as an alien and it was a top.
