ThatDudeintheHoodie's Favorite 90s Love Songs

The month of love is upon us once again and while for many it isn't the best time of the year, for those that do enjoy it one of the oldest ways of showing your other half that you love them is through music. But with so many choices, what is the best? Well, being that the nineties churned out some of the best love songs, here are three of my personal favorites to show that special someone how much you love them.

I Swear - By All-4-One and John Micheal Montgomery

Starting this list is a song that crossed two genres of music, country and pop. While it started out as a country song by John Micheal Montgomery in 1993, it crossed over into the pop charts after being covered by the band All-4-One shortly after. While there are style and lyrical changes, both were hits. In 2016, both artists came together to preform what is called a definitive version of the song.

The song itself is about one making promises of everlasting love and devotion to their other half. Both are sung like ballads, with slow and simple instrumentals which add to the lyrics of the song and make them impactful. This is young love in its purist form.

God Must Have Spent A Little More Time On You - By N'Sync and Alabama

Continuing the trend of genre crossing comes God Must Have Spent A Little More Time on You. Both versions were released in 1999, with N'Sync's version releasing in February and Alabama's version releasing a couple months after with N'sync singing back up vocals.

Like most love songs, this is mostly sweet nothings that one would whisper into their love's ear. What makes both great though is how they are sung, with love and devotion on top of the slow music accompanying the lyrics, turning sweet nothings into something more.

Back at One - By Brian McKnight and Mark Wills

When it comes to love, it can feel like it will fade away, even though it is still around. But it doesn't hurt to remind the one you love how much you love them. This song is about just that, a reminder that they are loved in a romantic way that can only be described as tender and sweet. With the smooth instrumentals and the voice of Brian McKnight, the feeling this song gives is in the music itself. This song was covered by Mark Wills a few months later after this version came out and has the same feel with a country twang to it.

While these are just some of my favorite love songs from the nineties, there are many more to find for that special someone. So until next time, this is ThatDudeintheHoodie saying to live life and live nostalgic and have a happy Valentine's Day.

OldSchool, I usually do it for both to give me material to come back to and to not overload people.

Ben, the sooner I got it out there, the better lol.

I do like All-4-One, but how can you just mention 3? And have none from Boyz II Men? I am, of course, more of an 80s guys, but I could probably make a strong list of 25-50 Love Songs from the 90s.

the first one on the list isn't just the most identifiable but i felt it was the most overused too. i had cousins that played that song, two friends who sang it constantly while it was still popular and it was at the point where i felt like i'd scream if i heard anymore of it lol.
