Not surprisingly, it's already broken a Box Office record:

I thought it was alright. I'll wait for the rest of the trilogy to go on before I make any big judgements, but I felt it was kind of overhyped.

I watched the film this afternoon and was quite pleased. Though it didn't tread much new ground in terms of story, I did enjoy the writing and the amazing effects, both practical and CGI. Nothing seemed corny or stupid like in the prequels. It did leave many unanswered questions, but so did the original trilogy as it played out. I like the new cast (which is pretty amazing to me) and the new characters. Probably the only disappointing character was Phasma, who is... well, pretty useless and nearly non-existent. I really liked Finn and his hyper character.

Just got back from the drive in. I dug it. It was a good movie (not the greatest), but a great way to get the franchise back on track and to build from.

What do you mean exactly?

I'm trying to be as vague and spoiler free as I can here, but... you had one individual who was highly trained and powerful vs. an individual who was clearly not, yet...

I think the explanation given by Abrams in this article for using so many elements from A New Hope in The Force Awakens really helps me to look past those similarities and feel fully content with the direction they went. I'm looking forward to the next installment.
