Another weird cartoon I would like to point out is...

Well, you know.

Weird?

Dude, Beetlejuice is one of the coolest cartoons ever!
And you are correct - this cartoon rocks, just like the live action movie.
"Love Me Some Beetlejuice", lol.

Black and white cartoons.

I've seen ones where the furniture, yes, the furniture, came to life and was laughing. I've also seen one where food came alive and was singing. Would you want your soup to sing?  Of course, the reason all this was happening was in the spirit of happiness. Which is what these genuine cartoons were all about.

Do a search for, "The Curious Adventure of Mr. Wonderbird". That's the English title for a French cartoon from the 1950's. Very strange cartoon, I saw it when I was 7 years old and I never forgot the creepy robot from the second half of the film.

Magical Maestro. Another trippy classic from Tex Avery.

Sit back and watch the magical fun.

And Now I Have A New Favorite Cartoon.

This is outstanding crow. I saved it to my hard drive. Loved everything about this cartoon. When MGM opened its theatrical library of animation to CBS in 1965, the network left out some of the best cartoons from Tex Avery and its difficult for me to understand why.

Magical Maestro is funny, fast paced and well thought out - the "wild-hair" gag is brilliant!

Gotta give it to ya crow, you are the Post-Master!

When I think of the opera performance in Magical Maestro, I think of the opening of Mrs. Doubtfire.

When I was a little boy men like William Cayton and Fred Ladd took European cartoons and dubbed them in English for baby boomers.  Haim Saban of Saban Entertainment did the same thing in the final decade of the 20th century, and I thank him for it.

Cartoons from outside the USA sure are interesting and Saban searched the world over for anything that might catch-on with kids everywhere.

I will never forget 1992 and the first time I saw "Saban's Around the World in Eighty Dreams". A French cartoon from Saban Paris, S.A. mothership. Only the French could make a cartoon this crazy watchable, lol.

Try this on for size:

On an enchanted tropical island lives a big guy named Carlos with his friend Oscar the Parrot. Each episode features three children who have befriended Carlos and Oscar because the two always have an interesting story to share. Carlos loves to tell "tall tales", especially when they concern famous historical characters.

The children, of course, never believe Carlos and Oscar. So to prove he's telling the truth, the whole gang goes over to Grandma Tadpole's house on the other side of the island. Grandma has magical powers that can transport Carlos, Oscar and the children through time where they can meet all the famous people Carlos swears are his close, personal friends.

Yes, Carlos is making it all up and when he and the kids get into trouble because of his "stories", Carlos has the ability to transform into a bull and "bulls" his way out of every sticky situation his stories gets him into.

What fascinated me was Grandma Tadpole. Her magic required a small amount of water that was still, not moving. A glass, a mug, a sink or even a spoonful - as long as the water was still she could use it as a dimensional doorway through time and space.

I also like the intro theme music. Only the English version was done in a reggae style with a delightful chorus of children singing back-up. No one has posted the full version of the US intro but here is the only clip I can find on YouTube:
