That's not very reassuring haha, why is that? -end quote Aside from the increasing prices of meters, it mostly had to do with necessity and efficiency. In our area it just didn't make sense.
We did not have the ability to do readings, so customers were required to call in their readings so that we knew how much to charge them, and when to refill their tanks. Eventually it was just simpler to charge for gas placed in the tank.
Nowadays their are almost no propane companies who use meters. Some offer them as an option, but the customer is required to pay a fee for meter maintenance.
Sometimes landlords want meters so that they can keep track of how much to charge a tenant. The landlord has to pay for the tank fill, and then sets a price to charge the tenant for the gallons used.
