25821Halloween Nostalgia & More!Well, today is the day....Halloween is finally here. &nbsp;I know some of you hate to see it pass so quickly. &nbsp;Thankfully, there is a community here at Retro Daze that never let the day and memories pass by for too long without it being mentioned.<div><br></div><div>If you want just a little more Halloween goodness before it starts to fade out a little bit, you can check out all of our Halloween and spooky themed retro posts over at HowISpentMyChildhood.com! &nbsp; Here are links to some of our best from this Halloween season, and tonight at 8pm, you can stop by the site and listen to the original radio broadcast of War of the Worlds. &nbsp; It's quite a fitting piece for a spooky night, especially if listened to with the lights down low.</div><div><br></div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/beetlejuice/">BeetleJuice</a>&nbsp;</div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/the-munsters/">The Munsters</a></div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/a-disney-halloween-1983-special/">Disney's Halloween Special from 1983</a></div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/ernest-scared-stupid/">Ernest Scared Stupid</a></div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/goober-and-the-ghost-chasers/">Goober and the Ghost Chasers</a></div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/the-funky-phantom/">The Funky Phantom</a></div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/gothic-fashion/">Gothic Fashion</a></div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/adventures-of-pete-and-pete-halloweenie/">Adventures of Pete and Pete Halloweenie</a></div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/ghostbusters/">Ghostbusters</a></div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/ghostbusters-2/">Ghostbusters II</a></div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/the-real-ghostbusters/">The Real Ghostbusters</a></div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/count-duckula/">Count Duckula</a></div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/bewitched/">Bewitched</a></div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/the-nightmare-before-christmas/">The Nightmare Before Christmas</a></div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/dark-shadows-tv-show/">Dark Shadows</a></div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/ouija-board/">Ouija Board</a></div><div><a href="http://howispentmychildhood.com/elviras-mtv-halloween-special-1986/">Elvira's MTV Halloween Special 1986 w/ original commercials!</a></div>mickyarberOct 31, 2015View

25819Cartoons you miss.I used to see Heathcliff and the Cadillac Cats in syndication every afternoon in the early 90's and loved it. &nbsp;Miss that one too.<div><br></div><div>I used to miss Gummi Bears, but my daughters got of age and I purchased the DVD sets, and they quickly became one of their favorites so I got to see them all again too!</div><div><br></div><div>I miss those days of coming in after school and settling down to watch G.I. Joe and Masters of the Universe in syndication every day. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>I also miss good days of USA's Cartoon Express on Sunday mornings when they featured Scooby-Doo Where Are You, Jem, Turbo Teen, Dyno-Mutt &amp; Blue Falcon, Space Ghost, and Superfriends. &nbsp; That was a great block of cartoon back in the day.</div><div><br></div><div>Last year, I made a custom Saturday morning DVD, and the kids and I spent a Saturday morning like I did in my youth. &nbsp; We sat in pj's, ate fruity pebbles and watched episodes of The Smurfs, The Snorks, Gummi Bears, Muppet Babies, Hulk Hogan's Rock &amp; Wrestling, He-Man, Mr. T, and Dungeons and Dragons. &nbsp;I also threw in 80's commercials between each episode to give it a nice retro feel. &nbsp; We all loved it. &nbsp;Kids these days don't have to wait for that one day of the week to see cartoons like we did, so they don't have that sentimental attachment to those days when your week revolved around Saturday mornings.</div><div><br></div><div>I also have a custom Christmas DVD that we do the same thing with that features the Smurfs Christmas Special, He-Man &amp; She-Ra Christmas Special, Looney Tunes Christmas, California Raisins Chrismas Songs, and the complete original Mickey's Christmas Carol and the other Disney cartoons that were shown with it like Pluto's Christmas Tree. &nbsp;I also threw Christmas commercials in between the features like the one with Ronald McDonald and the kids skating on the frozen pond and the classic Folgers commercial where the son comes home for Christmas. &nbsp; We pop that in each year and make a family night of watching the whole thing while eating popcorn and such around the holidays.</div><div><br></div><div>My goodness, there is so much I miss.</div>mickyarberOct 31, 2015View

25815Cartoons you miss.I miss the first generation of many 80's cartoons. I'd love to see some studio pick up some of the rights to those properties and start producing new episodes in the same animation style and with many of the same voice actors. <br>Vaporman87Oct 31, 2015View
