Because of the way the old W-B shorts were aired on TV, I never understood that Porky Pig was W-B's first cartoon star.</div><div><br></div><div>Enough time has passed that I can see the appeal, especially when Porky is menaced by his nephew who seems to delight in pranking his uncle. Contextual humor gave way to a more simple-minded humor based mostly on bodily functions.
