That's hilarious. You're 476 feet from everything! Now that's what I call being "right at your doorstep".

Not even considering it that way, I usually do about 35 miles a week including walking. It's 3 miles to work, I have friends in the neighborhood, and I can get most groceries in one area or the other. It's nice but going to the sticks for Nintendo games is less convenient.

The way some people throw around the word "mint" is just ridiculous.

"Mint Mega Man 3 Mint NES With Mint Instr & Mint front & Mint back of Mint Box. Box Has No Mint sides. Wow Mint!!!"

Update.

TL;DR: I have a console and a good handful of games now. There are more titles I want, but what I have so far could easily keep me busy for a while.

The temptation carried over from emulation to press a speed up button, but it quickly went away. This might be kool-aid but I am now fully in agreement with people who say there is nothing like playing the original hardware.

It surprises me how difficult it is to find any NES games. Apparently the aftermarket for these is so demanding that people are just eating them up and sticking them on Ebay immediately.

When does Flea Market season begin in Chicago? That'd be my next stop.

I have a vague memory of seeing a NES Action Set in box at a flea market here years ago. No idea what price.

What really gets me is how many auctions there are for lots of terrible games. So many pictures exactly like this:

it
boggles my mind. They clearly take out all the good games and I can't
believe how many copies there are of Silent Service, Platoon, and other
games I never heard of but get universally terrible reviews. Not to
mention game show games, movie adaptations, and sports games but at
least I understand why those exist.

By the way, what in the world in the forum code is it that puts random line breaks in when something is pasted? If I edit such a post, they aren't there in WYSIWYG mode but in source mode they do appear--as actual line breaks, not preceded or indicated by
or
. There, I can usually fix most of them but it's pretty annoying, especially since I'm usually pasting because I went to draft a long post in Notepad.

I have noticed that as well. Something about the transition from another program into the editor is triggering the line breaks, but what I can't say.

This whole thread has inspired me to offer something else in the Points Store. Stay tuned for that.

I had a Top Loader once, it was nice and they supposedly work better but you can also get like 4 original consoles for the cost of 1 Top Loader. Cleaning the games works sometimes but I just breathe on them, the heat from your breath boosts the conductivity to the 72 Pin Connector. They say blowing is actually bad for the games long term.
