I saw that in the tv listings. I thought it was some kind of misprint or something.

I don't know what possessed them to make a name change. No one asked for it.

According to the Simpson's Wiki this year's episode will focus entirely on what actually happens to the Simpsons on Halloween as opposed to the stranger tales we are accustomed hence the name change. I for one do not like it one bit.

Actually, Halloween of Horror is not part of the Treehouse of Horror series. It's a regular episode of the show that happens to be Halloween themed. There are two Halloween episodes this year. The Halloween of Horror episode is airing tonight, and that's part of the Simpsons canon. The traditional non-canon Treehouse of Horror episode for this year is going to be airing next week.

As long as TOH hasn't been abandoned.

I missed the part about the TOH still airing. I suppose this means I should put down my sword. 

Plus, it was announced earlier this year that one of the shorts this year's Treehouse of Horror involves Sideshow Bob killing Bart Simpson.

If you missed it, shame on you! It was great! And not just the Bart/Bob scenario. Once again John K does the couch gag, Homer portrayed Godzilla, there was a Mr. Sparkle reference and a Chronicle parody.
