Nothing beats Abbot's Frozen Custard. One of the few things I miss about NY.

I miss going to Sno Biz. They have every snow cone flavor you can think of.

Yeah, here in this area the nearest one is called The Green Kiwi, and it's essentially the same as Sweet Frog, only I like the interior of The Green Kiwi better (the tables and chairs are all fruit shaped like chairs/tables.

The Ice Cream factory located in Brooklyn, right under the Brooklyn Bridge serves up some really good Ice Cream. If you notice all the people on the left side of the photo, that's the line to get in! It's totally worth the wait.

Their ice cream must be that good if the line's that long.

I was just listening yesterday to a radio program where the host was complaining that people in NY think they are so hip when they have to wait in line for some food establishment. There may be a place just as good down the street with no line at all, but because it's not the "it" place, they would rather wait in line.

In most of my experiences, when there's a big line, the product is usually pretty good. The only other place in that area that has as long a line is Lombardi's pizza, located about two blocks away from the Ice Cream factory, and they serve coal fire brick oven pizza topped with fresh Mozzarella, again well worth the wait.

Now a good example of what that radio host was talking about is Mutsumoto Shaved Ice in Haleiwa Hawaii. Every time we passed that place the line would be rapped around the corner, it was ridiculous. I don't understand how anybody could wait in line so long for a shaved ice, but I believe the place was show-cased on the travel or food channel so it's the cool place to get shaved ice...

Trix cotton candy yogurt is awesome.

It won't be long until Labor Day, the last hurrah of summer, will come.
