I'm hyped as ever.

I hope the humor skews more toward Mike' sense of humor than Joel's. You love this signature.

Someone actually ranked every episode ever of the show, and it's epic. And though I agree with the #1 and #2 slots, and a few thereafter, I simply can't understand how Soultaker didn't make it in the Top 10.

Well I have watched the first two episodes of MST3K: The Return and here's what I have to say about it.
First, Pretty much every aspect of the show includes pieces of what made the original so great. This is obvious from the outset, with the elaborate yet incredibly low budget intro, to the original concept for the SOL bits (ie: the invention exchange). Ties to the original show are scattered throughout, like the relationship of the "mads" to their predecessors and even cameos by the old show's familiars. The first episode intro that included Erin Grey and Wil Wheaton was a nice touch. The cast, though not exactly up to Mike, Kevin, or Bill standards, is sufficient. Though I wish there was more deviation in their voices as often times I can't distinguish who is speaking. Still, Jonah is better than Joel. Sorry, but... he is. The writing for the riffing is well done. There were many times I busted a gut. Good stuff. And the movie selection so far couldn't be any more "MST3K" worthy. All-in-all I think it's not perfect, but it's a worth successor and a nice way to expose a new generation to the best show that ever aired on television. You love this signature.

NBC's Saturday Night Live, SNL, forever changed Saturday night television. Letting local TV stations run old B-grade movies all night long just wouldn't cut it anymore.
By 1990 Saturday nights became a major battleground in major media markets across the USA and the need for new shows brought a wealth of unusual collaborations and deal making. Like I've said many times, what you saw varied with where you live. The Seattle region, with its three independent TV stations plus two PBS stations covering the same market - the competition was very fierce. The result was many cable-only series began to appear on commercial television, especially during weekends as everyone wanted a piece of the SNL crowd. By 1995 Saturday nights in Seattle was spectacular, especially after midnight. From Doctor Who to The Laugh Factory. The Seattle NBC affiliate, "KING-TV 5" signed a 5-year deal with Japan's national broadcaster, "NHK - Tokyo" to air special content for the American market after SNL to battle the offerings from Seattle's very aggressive independent stations. Beginning at midnight for 1995 - 1996, Channel 22 aired "Mystery Science Theater 3000", to the delight of non-cable subscribers, like me. How do I thank a local station for giving everyone a chance to see one of the most entertaining shows that only cable subscribers had access to for a time? MST3K became the "goto" show on weekends and my Saturday nights became a lot funnier. Move over SNL: |

Jonah's humor does seem to be more in line with Mike than Joel, which I like You love this signature.

I'm enjoying this season more and more. I love how they have ad breaks in it still. That call back in episode 2 was great.

Like so many shows I've talked about, my first viewing of MST3K was an accident. I was channel surfing one Saturday night and there it was - the most unusual TV show I'd ever seen.
I must admit, MST3K reminds me a lot of "What's Up Tiger Lily" from 1966: |
