As for the storyline...meh, I haven't followed Pokemon since the DS titles so I don't know where this come from but I think it would have been better had they took a story from the show and just condensed it, heck even the 2000 movie would have worked. Having Ash save the world from a more serious Team Rocket even - I won't watch it in theaters unless it gets glorious reception.

I echo the thoughts about the Pokemon looking a little creepy. It almost seems unavoidable though if you're going full on realistic. Not to mention Ryan Reynolds voice just automatically makes every line seem like innuendo is involved.

at least when people say mr. mime is creepy, it's because all mimes are creepy in general

Some of the Pokemon in the film look a little creepy, but there's some that actually looks pretty cool. Such as Greninja for instance. That is probably the most badass looking Pokemon we've seen so far.
And the Pikachu design is growing on me. At first, the eyes made him look a little creepy, but once you get past that, he actually looks cute. |
I wasn't as into Pokemon as much as I was into some other things from the '90s, but I did watch some of the early episodes of the cartoon and almost always played as Pikachu in Super Smash Bros. I suppose that makes me a fan. I've never heard of the game that this movie is based off of, but it looks like it might be an enjoyable enough movie. I actually like the designs for the most part. Being a Ryan Reynolds fan, I'm also glad to see him involved in the project. I may check this out once it's on DVD.

It's hard to get much or any close look at any of the pokemons except Pikachu in this trailer, but looking at him specifically... he's a furry animal. What's creepy? It's better than Super Mario realistic eyes and hair in Odyssey, imo. Maybe it would be better with cel-animated characters overlaid on live action like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but, beyond that, I don't see a problem with the way they look. Full disclosure, I have never been a Pokemon fan. I never played any games (don't like turn-based combat) and I thought the cartoon plotting was lame and one-dimensional. |

So I did see this film when it came out and to put it simply, It was a good film. Now, I'm keeping my opinions on this close to the chest for now cause I may or may not make an article on it

I've been hearing good reviews and one of my co-workers told me it was good. So I'm willing to take a chance on it.
