i guess voltron won as the better animated reboot.

well i'm ten episodes in and it seems like the usual pacing and idea of voltron and avatar the last airbender, there's some action and some serious scenes here and there, but there's emphasis on humor for the demographic that it's aimed at. i've never watched the original she-ra, but this seems ok.

Except I feel like those other shows you mentioned had a better balance of humorous/wacky characters to serious characters, and felt just dramatic enough to reveal a deep and creative story. Here, not so much.

Uhg. So I watched a couple more episodes last night and the disgruntled teen act is really wearing thin.

Let me guess, episode 5 with the sea princess "ughh, okay, you can help me, what - everrrr"? I call it put-upon valley girl. She was annoying, but I've also met girls that age who act like that. So I took it as unfortunate realism. Same with Bo and his stupid "BEST    FRIEND   SQUAD??   " act.

All the characters are goofballs except Shadow Weaver, Hordak, and Queen Angelica. They really needed to include more serious characters to add some weight to things.

What about Catra? She's serious. And I like the way this show gave more of the back story of Adora being with the Horde, and they were friends - although it's kind of hard to tell why, with how Catra always ignored her responsibilities and Adora would never do that.
Not the part about making Adora a force captain before she's ever been in the field before, though. That didn't make any sense.
