Personally, I see a lot of Jackie Gleason in Top Cat since he always had a "get rich quick" scheme in mind. Top Cat is a lovable rogue, a poor boy with wealthy aspirations.

Maybe that's why I've had so much trouble with Top Cat all these years!

You see, most animated characters are "as is", but with Top Cat there has to be a backstory. The way he talks, the way he acts and the drive to up his station in life - there's a lot of untold baggage in Top Cat's past.

I never did that with other cartoon characters, not even Fred Flintstone.

Please Read Carefully:

There is absolutely no connection or similarity between Arthur and Alvin.

Except in my mind.

As a fan of Sherlock Holmes, I've always enjoyed Basil of Baker Street.

I love the photos you guys post around here - from Bucky O'Hare to Sherlock Holmes, excellent!

From 1987 the best Mighty Mouse ever to air on television - courtesy of Ralph Bakshi and Terrytoons!

While we're on the topic of cartoon mice, I might as well add these two to this thread...
