Blade Runner was one of those films that was a little hard to follow at first, but after repeated viewings, you learned to really enjoy. It was so well crafted and the characters so intriguing, that you couldn't help but to place it in your top movies list.

Now, Blade Runner seems to be finally receiving a sequel (I smell a SequelQuest podcast coming). And with the involvement of Ridley Scott and an original writer on the first film, in addition to Harrison Ford reprising his role as Deckard, this could turn out to either be an awesome spectacle, or a huge disappointment (Indy 4, anyone?).

i'm still not sure why a sequel needed to happen. the original was already a masterpiece on its own, but i guess as long as it doesn't have that cash-in feel then i'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

Maybe Deckard will finally get a real animal pet in this one!

Also, I hope that Mercerism makes an appearance

Yeah. Exactly. I'm REALLY hoping that this feels like a sequel that needed to be, and not one that was just forced upon us for money.

This used to be a trivia question:

When approached to turn the book into a movie the title, "Blade Runner" was the winner. But the book title sure is awesome.

I'm with Vaporman, I want this revisit film to be worth the effort, and not another money grab.

Did the new Blade Runner wow anyone the way the original did?

i heard the pacing was really slow, but if you watch it as a standalone movie without seeing the original first, it's actually pretty good.

Finally was able to see the sequel. I enjoyed it. It really captured the feel of the original, and did a good job of taking the story of replicants into unexplored territory that warranted a sequel. I was also truly amazed by the recreation of young Rachael. Even more impressive than Princess Leia/Grand Moff Tarkin from Rogue One, Young Hank Pym in Ant Man, and Young Ego in Guardians 2.

Well, 2049 sure had a big night at the Oscars. It won for cinematography and visual effects.
