Speaking of arcades and places like Discovery Zone, I had recently been researching the idea of opening an FEC of my own. Reading up on the risks, costs, and requirements. If I ever do decide to build one, I plan to theme it based on this website.

RetroDaze Family Fun Center. There could be a gallery inside with nothing but awesome stuff pertaining to the 70's through the 90's. And a froyo shop with flavors like Shakin Steak Strawberry, Vkimo Vanilla, Crow Caramel, Benjanime Butter Pecan, etc, etc.

massreality
First off, I'm okay with the whole Massreality Marshmallow thing. Not a big fan of marshmallows, but I'd like to think of myself as a distance cousin of Stay Puft.

I had one of those mall arcades I spent most of my time at. But Putt-Putt was the site where I kicked so much butt in Outrun that I actually had a small crowd around me. Ahh memories.

There was a place in Cary, NC called Exilarama that was one of those laser tag/arcades, but also had an indoor rollercoaster called the Hurlarama. The location was broken into several retail spots with Total Wine taking up what used to be the front door to the place.

When living in Cedar Hill, Texas there was a go kart place called Ellen's I also dropped wayy too many quarters at. Ellen's is actually still open.

Also, the rec center I wrote about some had a nice selection of arcade games in Orlando back in the day. We had Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter 2 tournaments pretty much daily.

And finally, how can I not list all of these beloved places without mentioning all the quarters I spent at various Pizza Hut's rocking the Ms. Pacman tabletop machines or the random gas stations that I'd torture my dad at. He'd give me a quarter while picking up a few things, expecting me to die quickly, and in some cases, that two minute trip into the gas station would turn into a ten minute trip. After a while he caught on and wouldn't give me a quarter depending on the machine.

Speaking of opening up an arcade/entertainment center of your own. You know something I thought about in high school that would be cool. Opening up a video game store that would sell a lot of used from all consoles ranging from Atari to the current gen systems. While there does exist places like that, this one would have a few other things that most of these stores wouldn't have... it's own arcade section. Not just that, but it would also have some retail kiosks, both retro and new that allows you to play all sorts of games from these various systems. If there's a place like that in my area, I'd go there all the time... even more than I would go to Gamestop.

When I was a kid there was place named Sacoa that sadly, I don't exists anymore. It was like an emporium of games... you had arcades, bumper cars, basketball and football fields, minigames, contests, a nice -but impossible to succeed at-  cabin where you could exchange your hardly-earned tickets for prizes and a lot more... it was strangely lacking a food department there though... you would think that that would have been a priority for them, but I have never seen such thing.

It was 90s gold and a must-visit place when you were around the area. I still have my member's card inside my wallet, just for the heck of it

There was an arcade on my college campus back in 2004, but it was replaced with a Starbucks in 2006.

My friend opened up a game store with an arcade and kiosk thing like blueluigi wants in 2008 right off the campus.  I mentioned it on RJ a few times.  It had a bunch of couches and a bar counter with stools, and it was full of people.  The people would stay for hours and play the games on the tv, but they wouldn't spend money.  He had to charge people to play if they wanted to stay on the tv, and then everyone who had crowded the place left.  He would host arcade tournaments, parties/events, and even had custom arcade tokens made.  I wanted to get a job there, but he couldn't afford to hire anyone else.  He had to close in 2013 because he wasn't making enough money on used games and the arcade machines to keep it running.
