Putt-Putt.
Back when it had mostly arcade games. I haven't been in awhile, but last time I did, the games I grew up with were gone. "If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."

The arcade I visited most was in Vienna, WV in the mall there. I don't remember what it started out as, but later on it was a TILT. That was where I experienced the most arcade action. Now, technically not an arcade, but the Skate-A-Way (original post) was also a place where I played arcade games a great deal, mainly because I was there every weekend. But it was limited to about 8 to 10 games, including Galaga, Kung Fu Master, Ms. Pac-Man, and Gradius.

Nice topic. I have been trying without success to find info about my childhood arcade. It was called Ronnie's. It was on top of a hill. It was near the intersection of a highway and a smaller road and I think there was a car dealership on the actual corner. The building was shaped like a little red schoolhouse. There was a graveyard across the street. The arcade room was square, with machines both lining the walls and in the middle. I think they served food? That's all I can remember about the place. It was a popular destination for birthday parties. I used to say I wanted to be buried in that graveyard when I die.
There was another arcade in the mall. It was pretty small. It was a one-hall mall. The arcade just had two rows of machines, one along either side of the room. It was dark and it looked dangerous and I think you could smoke in there. This place was tantalizing as heck. You know in 80s movies how the bad guys look like punks, and they have technology and also trash barrel fires, and they're really cool? It felt like that. My dad took me in there just once or twice on Saturday morning for just one or two quarters. But mostly it was passing by it and wishing I could go in as my mom would drag me to get clothes I hated at Bradlee's. By the time I was old enough to get over there myself, it was still a little scary, yet also kind of pathetic in that I never saw anybody in there. It seemed very adult. Maybe teenagers went there in the evening. I was just at the mall for the comic book store. |

We had Aladdin's Castle which was a franchise that turned into Namco's chain shortly after. But we had Starbase which held out all the way til 2013. It was a time capsule, he had a bunch of old stuff and plenty of new. It was your classic hole in the wall. The website had a live webcam so you could check out the place from home. I remember the candy in his claw machine looked like it dated back to the 80s themselves. If it wasn't for those San Francisco Rush and Cruisin USA games, I think he would have been done years before. It was always in my plans to talk to the owner and do a proper article on the place, but I just never got around to it sadly.

Funscape
I used to go there on special occasions as a kid. This was the best part Motion simulator rides. It was an upgrade from Discovery Zone. Another arcade though there are no pictures I could find of it. But my local FYE had an arcade that I used to frequent as a kid. I still had tickets from there at my family's house. |

Speaking of arcades and places like Discovery Zone, I had recently been researching the idea of opening an FEC of my own. Reading up on the risks, costs, and requirements. If I ever do decide to build one, I plan to theme it based on this website.
RetroDaze Family Fun Center. There could be a gallery inside with nothing but awesome stuff pertaining to the 70's through the 90's. And a froyo shop with flavors like Shakin Steak Strawberry, Vkimo Vanilla, Crow Caramel, Benjanime Butter Pecan, etc, etc. You love this signature.

Strawberry? No way man, gross! How about salted caramel? Crow can have cookie, candy bar, coconut, coffee, or any number of variations with chocolate.

Where I used to live, there was a local swimming pool that's closeby to where I lived. There was a small arcade they had in a garage, and I would play Street Fighter II on there all the time... and at one point, The Simpsons. I know it was still around when I last went there in 2004, but I'm wondering if they still have it now.
There are a few arcade centers that I visit on occasion. Mostly during my birthday. Scandia is a good example of one of those places. They have an arcade section with a lot of great titles... even some recent games like Super Street Fighter IV and Mario Kart Arcade GP. I've also visited Dave and Buster's and the arcade at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. |

I don't like coconut that much. "If you think a 401K is your mother-in-law's bra size, you might be a redneck."
