So my wife is really pushing for me to open a frozen yogurt shop here locally.

There is a location open next to a Walmart and Bob Evans (and a high school) that she thinks would be perfect, and we know somebody who would be a perfect manager. But I'm hesitant (I've never STARTED a business before).

I have agreed to entertain the idea, with one stipulation: It has to be "retro" themed. She has agreed to allow that, so I'm researching things, as is she.

Anybody have thoughts on this? Input? Advice?

Dude that is awesome! That could be a great first job for your kids as well!

What were you thinking about doing for pricing? Would it be by the ounce or a set price by the number of toppings i.e. 2 toppings for $3?

Would it be like Pinkberry where you get fresh fruit options? BTW Captain Crunch goes great in froyo!

I have so many questions! haha

Well, I hadn't really thought anything about... well, anything really... beyond the barriers that need crossing (business licensing, food permit, liability insurance, tax ID, etc.). Well, that and coming up with a look/logo and name.

But yes, I do think that fresh fruit, cereals, and other traditional toppings would be needed. It'd be cool to come up with some "retro" inspired toppings, but I don't exactly know what those would be. Finding Pac-Man cereal to use as a topping might be a bit difficult.

Pricing would be by the ounce to keep it simple and easy.

Huh. RetroJunk blows up and returns a 500 error when you visit a non-existent thread. Messy! Can't even code a 404 "Not found" page.

You could get a Pac-Man arcade machine in your yogurt parlor

Also, you could have retro-themed treats like a Pac-Man special- Cherries, strawberries, orange, and marshmallows lol

Retro flavors like Marty McFly Mango or Get to Da Choppa Cherry would be awesome. Make the yogurt dispensers out of old arcade cabinets and host old school gaming competitions on Thursday nights.

Gaming cabinet yogurt dispensers would be super awesome! I wonder what Marty McFly Mango tastes like? Does it taste similar to Power Pellet Pineapple?

What about retro candy? I know some retro candy won't translate well into yogurt toppings though.

There was this yogurt place I applied to a few years ago that was like Cold Stone they mixed the toppings into the yogurt. They were always trying to come up with hip and trendy names for the yogurts. I remember they had one called the Harlem Shake.
