i was originally going to keep writing articles towards one of the sideshow collectibles figures, but i only just noticed that they're no longer available in the points store. i think i'll take a long break from writing until something new and worthwhile appears in the store then.

Well, it looks like Fraiser has jumped aboard the Reboot Express.

Rumor has it, SpongeBob is being rebooted too.

if you go on social media, people are knocking that spongebob reboot hard. stephen hillenburg never wanted it to happen, and the fans know.

I hope the people behind the reboot don't say this to Hillenburg's family:

I don't understand why they're rebooting it when the original series is still airing new episodes. Rugrats at least makes sense since it's been nearly two decades since we last saw any new episodes from them.

@Rick

hey arnold creator craig bartlett said it himself, that nickelodeon became less about fun and more corporate as nickelodeon studios got into the 2000s, as long as they see a show that's raking in the ratings, they'll milk it 'til it's dry. spongebob was known as the last nicktoon, and stephen hillenburg wanted the series to end after the first movie, but nickelodeon denied his wish and wanted the show to keep going. and if you notice, a LOT of shows got cancelled by two seasons one after another until nick saw that a show was getting enough revenue for their network. jimmy neutron surprisingly was able to end successfully (even though the crossover with fairly oddparents hasn't aged well due to butch hartman shooting himself in the foot with how much of a jerk he revealed himself to be on his youtube channel), but i lost interest in nickelodeon after avatar was done.

So, not even Craig Bartlett likes the direction Nick is going in?

Makes me wonder what others who's worked for Nick think.

it was probably for the best, after all the cartoons got worse as the 2000s went along (cough sanjay and crag cough).

But what I'm not getting is why reboot it when the original series is still airing new episodes? Why not just continue making new episodes? I understand that they want to continue to milk the series dry. But why reboot it when you can continue making new episodes of the show you are already airing?

cheating the system for profit, i suppose, that's all i can guess. nickelodeon refusing to cancel it alone was the first sign and at this point spongebob is nick's mickey mouse.
