Article | Mr Magic | I think a lot of us can agree that the intro to Are You Afraid of the Dark is far more scarier than Goosebumps was. Nice article. | 90's Vs: Goosebumps vs Are You Afraid of the Dark | Sep 16, 2014 | ![]()
Article | Vaporman87 | I never really got into either show. By the time these shows were on the air, I was at an age where Tales From The Crypt and Freddy's Nighmares and the like were more my thing. For those of us not familiar with the shows, we might automatically assume Goosebumps was the better pick, only because the brand was more "out there" in your face, with books and toys and other merchandising. So thanks for giving folks like me a little clarity on the both of them. | 90's Vs: Goosebumps vs Are You Afraid of the Dark | Sep 16, 2014 | ![]()
Article | Vaporman87 | LOL. I love the "I just learned to count to 3" gag. I think there is a good variety when it comes to Houses of Haunt, though that depends on where you live. Being here in rural Ohio, your choices are basically corn mazes and more corn mazes, with the occasional school "haunted house" interspersed in there somewhere. As a kid, I was privy to a few school haunted houses, one cub scouts haunted house, and the like. In my twenties and into my early thirties, I got to see some of what was available to the "city folk". One particular event stands out in my mind... a festival of sorts with many different haunted attractions all set up in one place. Each took on a different theme, from a haunted circus to your standard haunted house. Lots of people running around in costume pretending to be after you. It was fun. Sometimes you can catch some good haunted events at the theme parks. Those are usually pretty well done, with a hefty amount of time and money invested in them. | Houses of Haunt | Sep 16, 2014 | ![]()
Article | pikachulover | Back when I was 13 I thought spirit gum and liquid latex were like equivalent. I didn't know any better. About the Gadget costume it's on my "things I want to dress up as, but haven't yet" list. | A Little Witchy | Sep 16, 2014 | ![]()

Article | NLogan | Hoju Koolander I love the personal pictures. To me that is what Halloween is all about. Can't beat the nostalgia level of some of those old Ben Cooper and Collegeville costumes. As you know my brother was also Yoda back in the day. Long live cellophane windowed boxes, rubber bands that broke on your sweaty face mask, and vinyl smocks... well the memories of them anyways. | Halloween Hallelujah! | Sep 16, 2014 | ![]()
Article | Vaporman87 | Cool. Thanks for the info Hoju and NLogan. You would be right in assuming I was not a staple of school plays and the like. I was not. In fact, I can only remember being in one school play in elementary school, and I had to wear a ridiculous purple and gold "dutch boy" outfit, complete with giant buttons and crazy hat. | A Little Witchy | Sep 15, 2014 | ![]()
Article | NLogan | @Vaporman, spirit gum is as old as the hills. All the classic movie monsters i.e. Lon Chaney as the Phantom of the Opera, Boris Karloff as Frankenstein, Lon Chaney Jr. as the Wolf Man, Boris Karloff as the Mummy, etc. all used spirit gum, mortician's wax , and sometimes cotton built up with collidion. Spirit gum has been used in the theater since the 1890s. | A Little Witchy | Sep 15, 2014 | ![]()
Article | Hoju Koolander | pikachulover, too bad your Mom couldn't figure out the Gadget costume, that would have been pretty awesome. Cool that she put the custom Witch outfit together for you though. Vaporman87, from your question I'm assuming you were not in any plays growing up. Spirit Gum is old school glue used in the theater to attach fake beards, mustaches and prosthetics to your face with. It's like rubber cement for your face, so it sticks really well and you have to use rubbing alcohol or a dissolving solution to get it off. | A Little Witchy | Sep 15, 2014 | ![]()
Article | Vaporman87 | That's cool. I've never heard of this Spirit Gum. Is it a fairly new thing, or something that's been around a while? | A Little Witchy | Sep 15, 2014 | ![]()
