My Five Favorite Full House Plot Holes

Shocking enough, the reboot of “Full House” is reaching its third season on NetFlix and is going on to its fourth, and I could not be more stunned. I hate the show, but oddly enough it has yet to kill my adoration for the original “Full House.” The series is famous and infamous for being so bereft of continuity, and while I’ll always love it (I proudly own the complete series), it’s tough not to notice these gaping plot holes and inconsistencies.

5. Where were Jessie and Becky’s Apartment Located? The attic or basement?
No, no, none of this makes sense! This whole story is off....! Jessie, Becky, Nicky, and Alex made an apartment in the basement..... Not the attic. Several scenes show them walking upstairs to the kitchen, they wouldn't be walking upstairs from an attic.....

4. When did Danny meet Pam if he and Jessie went to the same school?
It’s revealed in a flashback episode that Danny knew Joey in grade school, and even attended school with a very young Jessie. It’s hinted in early episodes that Danny met Pam in high school, and Joey in college, so did Danny meet Pam in grade school and stay with her for such a long time? Also where was Joey all that time Danny and Pam were married if the girls didn’t know him at all in the first episode, and even found him kind of annoying upon first impression?

3. When DID Danny and Pam have Children?
So it’s revealed that DJ and Stephanie are a few years apart from Michelle, and yet when the show flashes back to Danny in his early years, we see him hosting his own show in college with Joey. There he explains he has two daughters at home so when did Danny and Pam meet? When did they have their daughters, exactly? Was it one of those cases where Danny and Pam met as teenagers and pretty much felt the obligation to have children? Did Pam go to college, too?

2. Did Jessie Graduate High School or Not?
One of the funnier and most noticeable errors ever depicted is the episode where Jessie is conflicted about going to his high school reunion because he might re-connect with his first true love as he’s about to marry Rebecca. Later in the series, he reveals to the family that he dropped out of high school and went on the road to play music. So how did he go to the high school reunion? I also enjoy how Jessie is a sports nut in the episode where Kirk Cameron guest stars, and then later in the series is written as a character that can’t even bounce a basketball, let alone shoot a hoop.

1. Is It Jessie Cochran or is it Katsopoulus?
One of the more blatant continuity errors of the series that could have been touched upon with at least a few lines of dialogue involves Uncle Jessie. When we meet him in the earlier episodes, he’s known as Jessie Cochran. Once the show took off, he changed his name to Jessie Katsopoulus, a small but very noticeable chance that no one ever really notes or mentions. Not even in a meta-wink to the audience. In the early episodes it’s mentioned that Jessie is part Italian and part Greek, but actor John Stamos fully embraces his Greek heritage later in the series, centering a lot of Jessie’s storylines on his Greek family and bloodline. It makes sense, it’s just so sloppy that the writers never found a way around it.

"Speaking actual words, no."

They've talked on different occasions. Like in The Zoot Cat, for example. They didn't speak to each other, but they still spoke.

If you haven't seen it, there's a really funny blog called The Full House Reviewed. Some guy watched and reviewed every episode of the series. He hates the show, but manages to still be pretty funny and spot on with his observations. Most of which center around how lame most of Joey's jokes are and how they let Michelle do whatever the hell she wants.

I don't recall ever seeing Jesse and Becky walking down the stairs to their apartment. Can you name one episode where this occurs?

I totally missed conflict #2. Good ear!

As for the flashback episode, I recall Danny showing a picture of DJ, but I don't recall him mentioning having two daughters (in what would have been the 70s).

@Mr Magic - I've seen a number of Tom and Jerry cartoons (it was one of my favorites growing up). I don't recall them ever speaking to each other. When did this happen? Laughing, yes. Speaking actual words, no. At least not until a more recent version of the cartoon.

Another good one:

Steph's name is Stephanie Judith, DJ is Donna Joe Margaret, and Michelle is Michelle Elizabeth.

One thing that irked me about Full House was the inaccuracies. For example, in one episode Danny and Joey had an argument about Tom and Jerry.

Joey: Tom was the cat, Jerry was the mouse, and neither one of them have ever talked.

Whoever wrote that line hasn't seen enough Tom and Jerry cartoons.

Wow, questions I never considered. I am 100% sure Jessie and family lived in the attic though. Whenever they were exiting a scene to go to their room, I recall that they were always walking upstairs. Thanks for the tip on Danny's wife's name, now I feel like I can score extra points in a Full House trivia contest.

On a side note, I just picked up a cassette album of Tommy Page, the pop star who sang to Stephanie on her birthday in one episode. It's got some pretty solid early 90s tunes on it.
