TDITH Looks at The Nickelodeon Time Capsule
It's been Two years after the Twentieth anniversary of the Nickelodeon time capsule burial as well as the Thirty- Fifth anniversary of Nickelodeon itself and what better way to talk about both then with a part of Nickelodeon's history? Well better late then never right? Welcome to the Twenty-Second anniversary of the Nickelodeon time capsule article everyone. Join me as we look at the history of the time capsule, The contents of the time capsule and the special event held for the burial of the it as well as my overall thoughts on it as we celebrate both the time capsule and Nickelodeon. So lets get started with its history.
The Nickelodeon time capsule was buried on April 30th 1992 in front Nickelodeon Studios and wouldn't be opened for fifty years. While it was on the grounds of the studios there was a special marker on the concrete that showed it was buried there. That was until 2006 when the studios was shut down then it was moved to the Nickelodeon Hotel where it remains today with a new marker in front of the hotel. It is still set to be opened on April 30th 2042 as scheduled. So now that we got the history of it out of the way how about we see what's inside.

The contents of any time capsule are always the stuff that the generation at the time liked or was important to them as both a culture and what was news worthy at that time to show people in the future along with the generation that buried it to remember the past. This one was no different. The content are as follows. A news paper, Movies (Back to the future and Home Alone), Cds (Michel Jackson's Dangerous and MC Hammer's Don't Hurt Em), A piece of the Berlin Wall, A Whoa hat from the crew of the tv show Blossom, Twinkies, Roller Blades, A skateboard, Reebok Pumps, News reports on Dessert Storm, AIDS Crisis and the end of the Soviet Union, A Nickelodeon T-Shirt, A jar of gak and the camera used by a kid guest that recorded the whole event. There really isn't much to say about what was put in there outside of a cd or two and a couple of other items. Now let's look at the special for the burial of the time capsule shall we?
There was a special televised event for the burial of the time capsule as well. The event was hosted by Mike O'Malley. With guests such as Joey Lawrence and Doc Brown (Sadly not played by Christopher Loyd) and a kid who was holding the kid cam named Viki Horn. The special starts with Mike cheering on the crowd of kids and explains the time capsule and what's in the time capsule then introduces us to Viki with the kid cam to record the whole ceremony. Mike soon brings out Joey Lawrence while he was still on Blossom and offers to put a whoa hat into the time capsule and as soon as the capsule was to be lowered a Delorean pulls up and Doc Brown comes up to say stop lowering the capsule as he tells when he crossed some wires while working on a new Delorean prototype he went Fifty years into the future and said there would be no gak in the world and soon they all call out the Gak Meister to put gak in a jar to put in the time capsule then soon asks for the camera Viki Horn is holding and puts it in the capsule and then it's sealed and lowered down with a speech from Mike as the special ends.
There really isn't much to say about it cause it isn't really a show just an event for a time capsule burial. But it was good to see something like this. Nothing too staged. But at least preformed enough to go smoothly with little to no goof ups.
Overall this was something that is for anyone that likes the history of both Nickelodeon, Universal Studios Florida along with the Nineties in general. We might have lost the first kids' world headquarters. However we still have the time capsule and hopefully it will be opened come 2042. Until next time remember to...

Kind of like Play-Doh when you leave it out of the container for too long.

Good question. It would ether turn into a husk of orange solid or dust from my guess

My question is this, what effect will fifty years have on gak? LOL
