This was something that I noticed a while ago, but I haven't really looked into it until recently. So, I have a few episodes of Spiderman and his Amazing Friends that were tapped off NBC original Saturday Morning timeslot in the 1980s... and one of the things I noticed from watching one of the recent Disney XD reruns is that most of the narrations that Stan Lee would do in every episode would be edited out. I did notice some of them were left intact, but I wasn't sure if there's ever been any episode where all of Stan's dialogue included in the episodes were left intact in the whole episode.
So, it crossed my mind recently and I found this site that has a datebase of just about all of Stan Lee's narrations used in the show. It also features sound clips of all of the available Stan Lee narration that is currently unavailable in the current master copies.

I got to say, it's interesting how much of Stan Lee's narrations were edited out throughout the show's history. But I still wonder why they were edited out during later showings.... and I also wonder if there still exists master copies of the show that has all the narrations left intact.

Honestly I don't understand why there would be any editing out of his narration. If it's not an issue of editing for time, then it makes no sense at all.
Awesome resource for Stan Lee narration though. One could almost edit his narration for their own story purposes. You love this signature.

i find it stupid that they removed it i had no idea that he narrated the episodes until i heard about this too. his narration in the 2000 spider-man video game was awesome as well

AceNThaHole wrote : Nope. I checked Netflix, and his narrations are still edited out. If you've heard any of Stan Lee's dialogue during any of the recent TV airings/Netflix copies, chances are, they're from season 3. Some of Stan Lee's dialogue from that season are still kept intact, although there were still a handful of them that were edited out. |
