Some years back, I tried my hand at writing a novel. I got pretty deep into it, until I realized I just did not have the gift to bring stories to life the way I'd hoped.

There were two stories I needed to get out of my head and on to paper... one was a fantasy sci-fi adventure with elements of time travel. That was the story I worked on myself until I gave up writing it.

The other was much less fleshed out. It revolved around a boy in the '80s who enters a "Create-A-Character" competition held by the company who manufactured his favorite toy line/animated series/etc. When he doesn't win, it sets him on an adventure to find the actual winner in hopes of convincing him to help make his dreams come true.

His adventure becomes a mix of reality and fantasy featuring the characters he'd come to know from the show/toys.

It occurred to me that if I did not have what it took to bring the stories to life, I should find someone who could. That someone was ALREADY in my circle of friends... professor and published author, Anthony J. Rapino. When I presented him both stories (he was used to writing horror fiction, so this was new ground), he chose the latter.

While he and I have been going back and forth with ideas as he plugs along on the novel (he's about 60,000 words in), I thought it would be fun to have an actual figure of the main character who helps the boy on his adventure... a character named Fierce Phantos.

Then I thought... why not multiples of him so others could have one with the novel?

Then I thought... why not multiples of ALL the characters?

And so, that is what Order of Cosmic Champions is all about. This line of figures I'm having manufactured, the novel, and I'm even having an animated 2.5 minute promo created.

Fierce Phantos' 3D sculpt and 3D printed prototype is already done. Now he's being sent off to be manufactured.

That is really cool man! I'm always impressed and inspired by you Tony for turning dreams into reality!

A novel can be very daunting, I've begun to appreciate short stories which can be on big ideas. Maybe the Conan Barbarian route could work, a series of vignettes set within the same universe.

I'm so glad the secret is out! Working on this the past couple months has been great, but seeing Tony's vision of the OOTC characters come to life has been even better! I'm honored and delighted to be part of this journey.

Thank you for those kind words, echidna. They are greatly appreciated. Sometimes bringing a passion you have to fruition ends up feeling like a waste of time, energy, and resources. But those times when you feel satisfied and content that you did it more than make up for the others.

I can't imagine anyone else bringing the story to life on the page. Not after having worked with you on it. It's been great!
