I remember thinking it was a little weird, but ultimately didn't care.  Two new characters!  I think this had a much worse effect on box office:
"Due to backlash from parents over the darker and more violent tone of the first movie, the producers decided to not allow the Turtles to use their weapons for the entirety of this film."

Here's a movie that I was completely unaware of in 1991. It only made $28,000 in theaters! But I like it.

Hook was fantastic! Spielberg is a genius!

Ha! Obviously these parents never bothered to read the comic book source material, if they felt that the first film was too "dark" or "violent".

As underrated as this one is, it's still memorable in my book.

I like the ending of that one.
