you'll be penalized for certain things in your videos even if you label what audience your videos are for. again, it's like babysitting.

to be fair there are channels on youtube that do tend to have some innuendos and graphic nature in their video shorts (newgrounds, cyanide and happiness), i think the NSFW labeling kinda fits for this site. that and cocoscope seems to be so under the radar that i'm sure it's a far safer place for my uploads that have content like grand theft auto game footage, the gory gameplay of metal slug, etc.

I do like the ability to generate revenue right off the bat.

The problem I have with YouTube isn't so much the money angle. I hate what it's become. It was an innovative website that allowed people to be creative and really express themselves through video format. Now Google has sterilized it and made it so boring.

YouTube would rather be the next Netflix or Hulu rather than be the first YouTube.

a friend of mine has been tempting me to continue making youtube videos, so i think what i'll do is this: i'll continue uploading for the month, and if youtube doesn't do anything stupid i'll go ahead and stick around for next year. but from now on all of my videos will be labeled as "not for kids" even if the videos don't have anything offensive or graphic. a majority of the people who have subscribed to my channel are adult viewers anyway.
