I wouldn't call it "the coward's way out". You don't know what someone is going through or thinking when they do it. I agree that most of the time it stinks when people do it but no one really knows why he (or many other people) did it. Plus all the details haven't been figured out or released.

So, out of the "big five" of grunge, Eddie Vedder is the only lead singer left. Also, it's weird/crazy that two of them died from suicide (as of now for cornell) and two died of overdoses. Hopefully nothing happens to vedder anytime soon.
