I just hope it's a sequel. It should augment the story, not replace it. The original team retired one by one, and these ladies were hired as time went on.

Definitely not a sequel. I just heard that Akroid has a cameo as a cab driver.

I don't think that indicates anything. Maybe that's the part time job he took in retirement. Maybe he's playing a different character 30 years later.

Although I'll always love the original "Ghostbusters", I'm willing to give this version a chance, mainly because I'm a tremendous fan of Melissa McCarthy's work. I thought that "Spy" was one of the best comedies of the Summer so far, and I loved "The Heat" in 2013.

@Fuzz:

If Dan is a cab driver, what is Bill Murray? A tourist?

I've read that they're with that the original Ghostbusters never existed. I have some major problems with the movie. None of which are the fact that it's all women. (Even though I can't stand Kristin Wiig.)

1. The uniforms. They lack character when compared with the originals. They just look so bland. The reflective stripes just don't work.
2. The particle accelerators just look like they were made for cosplay. Again, no character to them either. (And what's with the radiation symbol having a heart in the center? Is it because they're women?)
3. The new Ecto-1. Why is it a hearse? The original was an ambulance and I liked that. It felt like help and hope was coming to rescue you. The hearse feels like death is coming and that's not what you want when you call for help.

All of my complaints purely aesthetic and visual.

OK, that's lame.

I didn't know about the other stuff you wrote besides the uniforms.
I think the proton packs look pretty good...for the 80s. In present day you would think they would have something sleeker.
The hearse probably just looks cool. An old ambulance now does not so they just went with whatever has a similar shape.

All these aesthetic things make it seem like there's not much thinking going on in the props department. Not good.

Wow. Just... wow. So all those people who called them when something strange was in their neighborhood now have their ghosts haunting them again. Way to go, Hollywood.

This will just be remembered as that dumb girl version of ghostbusters. I'm sure this one will be about how they're women and jokes and stuff about them being women, The first two weren't about them being men it was just about them being ghostbusters. And this will be some dumb "you go girl women empowerment ra ra ra feminist we can do just as good as men see women are funny too" lame junk. Bridesmaids (which had a bunch of the same people in it) stunk too, and it was like it was supposed to be a female version of the hangover (which i don't care for that much either). I don't like kristen wiig or melissa mccarthy. I don't think they are funny but really annoying. Can they go away already. We get it she's fat and "Funny" and trying to be like chris farley but she's not good and she just stinks.
