But one day my favorite 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Stevens, was curious and asked the entire class to mane their favorite cartoon character. One by one every student said the same name, Bugs Bunny.</p> <p>Mrs. Stevens then listed all her favorite cartoon characters - and that's when I realized that I knew very little cartoon history.</p> <p>My thanks to CBS for starting me in my quest for cartoon knowledge by keeping alive one of Terrytoons distinctive characters, Mighty Mouse. From 1955 all the way to 1988, CBS offered Mighty Mouse to generations of toon fans. And that's when the strangest thing happened.</p> <p>There were so many cover versions of "The Poor People of Paris", since 1956, that the song hit the Top-of-the-Charts again in 1963/1964. And that's where I come in. I would have no knowledge of this song were it not for its staying power. It was on every radio station when I was older and it remains a fascinating tune - quite different from anything else in pop culture at the time.</p> <p>The rise of The Beatles in 1964 turned the music industry upside down.
