Mainly, it's Nintendo playing catch up with Japan and Europe. I do have Mario Kart 64 on the Wii Virtual Console, so I might consider getting this on the Wii U. Super Mario Kart may have been rightfully acclaimed, and I will always respect that game for being the first game in the series. But I honestly don't think SMK has aged very well. Mario Kart 64 is what defined the series, IMO.<br>blueluigiDec 31, 2016View

32676Inexplicably Inappropriate Vintage AdsAs promised, I'm back. To be honest, these aren't all that "inexplicable"..more like quaint, really. But hey, if posting smoking Santa Claus is wrong, then I don't want to be right.<div><br></div><div><img src="/images/postImages/14831672905289031955.jpg"></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><img src="/images/postImages/14831673101021171802674_08_3908275830_9b01be84a6_o.jpg"></div><div><img width="300" height="300" src="/images/postImages/14831677640926083538103_48_13346027415_88d012a696_o.jpg"></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>jkatzDec 31, 2016View

After 2+ hours, I couldn't name half of the crew. Some of the them like Juan Solo were downright irritating.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Same for me. I don't think Donnie Yen's character's name was even said at all in the movie. If it was, it was only one line. I think in general, none of the main characters were very well developed. This is probably Rogue One's biggest flaw.</div><div style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><br></span></div><div style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Lots of lines of dialogue were botched. My favorite character was Donnie Yen's monk but he was clearly working with a language coach for each scene and lots of his lines came out confused or misplaced.</span></div><div style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><br></span></div><div>Don't remember this at all. Do you have any specific examples?</div><div style="font-style: italic;"><br></div><div style="font-style: italic;">Another big issue was the story. If you watch the original movies, the Empire Strikes Back you don't see a caption that says "Hoth: Location of secret rebel base" because you know what is going on. In ten minutes, Rogue One has like six cuts to six different planets.&nbsp;</div><div style="font-style: italic;"><br></div><div>I don't see the problem with this. It's a quick way to establish the setting. I did think it was a little weird how much they shifted locations at the beginning, though.</div><div style="font-style: italic;"><br></div><div style="font-style: italic;">SPOILERS Hey-o!</div><div style="font-style: italic;"><br></div><div style="font-style: italic;">1. They go to Jedha to get a transmission from Saw who promptly dies</div><div style="font-style: italic;"><br></div><div style="font-style: italic;">2. They go to generic Imperial mine to meet Jyn's dad who promptly dies</div><div style="font-style: italic;"><br></div><div style="font-style: italic;">3. They go to paradise planet where everyone promptly dies</div><div style="font-style: italic;"><br></div><div style="font-style: italic;">What was the point of step 2? Why is Juan Solo upset that Jyn's dad is dead when it was his mission to kill him?</div><div style="font-style: italic;"><br></div><div>Wasn't he having second thoughts about his mission at that point? Besides, the real question is why didn't her dad just straight up say how to blow up the Death Star? (Answer: because then there wouldn't be a story.)</div><div style="font-style: italic;"><br></div><div style="font-style: italic;">I like the idea of individual stories set in the Star Wars universe but I did not like this one.&nbsp;</div> <b style="font-style: normal;">-end quote</b></blockquote><blockquote rel="echidna64"><br></blockquote><blockquote rel="echidna64">Rogue One has some problems, yes, but enough to make you write it off completely? As one of the Generation-1 websites from the birth of the internet, RetroJunk was the first concentration fansites of old TV and movies.&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>By the time I joined in 2008 the rise of Web 2.0 sites was well underway.
