No other animated series introduced new characters in such an entertaining way.</p> <p>What I mean is, everyone who watched the first Pokemon episode didn't know anything about Pokemon, but the episode introduces several Pokemon as a "fantasy flashback/flashforward" from Ash. He was fantasizing which Pokemon he wanted as his first acquisition, and by default, we all learned about the different Pokemon in a natural, easygoing way.</p> <p>From my generation, it was great to see a character like Professor Oak, many qualities similar to the Professor from Gilligan's Island.
