37320 | Star Wars Force Friday II - 2017 | I didn't get anything on Force Friday. Though I love the films, I don't buy a lot of Star Wars merchandise these days. That said, the things that were available are pretty cool. | Superman | Sep 02, 2017 | ![]() |

37318 | Whatcha doin' for Labor Day? | My family had our celebration today. We spent the day at my grandma's house and had burgers, hot dogs, and potato salad. Monday will most likely be a rest day for me before heading back to the regular grind of work. | Superman | Sep 02, 2017 | ![]() |

37313 | Why Is Modern Pop Music So Terrible? |
eddstarr wrote :
Growing up in the 1960's was a musical avalanche of every variety, this must have had great influence on popular music for listeners and performers.

But the rise of the internet makes music spanning centuries available to everyone. Shouldn't this be a boon to musical creativity and quality?
-end quote
I think the problem is that making music has become too "easy". Music software like Autotune and drum machines and all kinds of mixers and whatnot has made people lazy. It seems all that's needed nowadays is a catchy tune, a handful of lyrics that are repeated over and over and over again and loads of cash being dumped into a record label.

Gone are the complex harmonies, motifs and melodies and well-structures scores or breadth of instrumentation that we used to see many years ago.

Music is becoming less of an art-form and more of a product to sell to the masses with reckless disregard to quality.

Anyway those are my 2 cents.
| Linux_Sage | Sep 02, 2017 | ![]() |
37312 | The Ghosts of Labor Days Past | @eddstarr: Funny you should mention that song. The Paul Davis version was played this week on SiriusXM's '80s on 8 during the Top 40 Countdown for this week in 1982. That was the first time I recall ever hearing the song. Paul's version only made it as high as number 40.
| Vaporman87 | Sep 02, 2017 | ![]() |
